Day by Day Overview

Drive from Mwanza city after breakfast to the Serengeti National Park, a journey of two hours to Ndabaka gate in the western corridor of the Serengeti ecosystem. Register and then begin the day. The topography of the western corridor is criss crossed by rivers and hills which makes it very important and full of wildlife year round. Lunch will be taken at Grumeti picnic site in the western corridor. Enjoy more game drives after lunch before heading to your lodge for leisure time and overnight stay.

Activity: Game drives

Serengeti National Park is home to the annual migration of hundreds of thousands of wildebeests, zebras and gazelles, followed from behind by their major enemies, lions, cheetahs, spotted hyenas, jackals and foxes. You will hopefully exprerience an incredible opportunity to see them crossing the Mara River over to the Masai Mara National Reserve in Kenya or vice versa. A great advantage of starting our safari from the western side of the Serengeti is it gives us the best chance of seeing the migration and we’ll make sure we follow it whenever we can.

Activity: Game drives

Today’s optional tour is for those who love to fly – a chance to experience an incredible balloon safari over the Serengeti. Wake up early in the morning at 5:00 am and then you’ll be taken for your flight over the beautiful plains and woodlands of Seronera valley. Enjoy a champagne breakfast in the bush prepared by hospitable chefs. After the flight, head back to your lodge viewing. Return to your lodge for dinner and overnight stay.

After breakfast drive to Ngorongoro Conservation Area through the southern Serengeti short grass plains where the migration usually begins. If the migration is in the southern part, you’ll see hundreds of thousands of animals, a scene you’ll never forget. You also have time to visit Olduvai Gorge ‘The Cradle of Mankind’ and Maasai village for a cultural experience (optional). Head to your lodge in the Ngorongoro for a leisurely remainder of the day. Dinner and overnight.

Optional Activity: Olduvai Gorge, Maasai village

Enjoy breakfast at the lodge and then drive to the Ngorongoro Crater, descend down into the crater and enjoy the remarkable wildlife which lives here including black rhino, black mane lion, cheetah, spotted hyena, elephant and buffalo. There are many water birds along shallow Lake Makat such as flamingoes, grebes, teals and ducks. At Lerai forest you may spot the elusive leopard. Lunch boxes will be provided and enjoyed at Ngoitoktok Springs picnic site. In the evening, ascend to the top of the crater and return to your lodge for dinner and stay overnight.
