Day by Day Overview
Your driver-guide will collect you at Kilimanjaro International Airport with a warm welcoming smile. Kick back and relax in your comfortable vehicle as he takes you to your hotel in Arusha, Tanzania’s self-styled ‘safari capital.’ On your journey to the hotel, you will get a brief impression of this large, bustling, commercial city. Depending on your arrival time, you may have your pre-safari briefing today otherwise it will take place early tomorrow morning. Enjoy the night in Arumeru River Lodge.
Meals: Dinner
Accommodation: Arumeru River Lodge
We pick you up from your hotel and drive to Lake Manyara National Park. The park derived its name from the Maasai word “manyara”, which is the Swahili name for the plant, Euphorbia tirucalli. The Maasai use this plant to grow livestock stockades, which matures to a highly durable stock proof hedge. The Great Rift Valley is part of a fault in the earth’s crust which stretches 8,000 kilometers (4,971 miles) from Turkey to the mouth of the Zambezi River in Mozambique. The fault is so massive that when astronauts landed on the moon, the Rift Valley was clearly visible to them.

After breakfast, we proceed to Serengeti National Park, Tanzania’s oldest and most popular national park. It’s famed for its annual migration when some six million hooves pound the open plains as more than 200,000 zebras and 300,000 Thomson’s gazelles join the wildebeest’s trek for fresh grazing. Yet even when the migration is quiet, the Serengeti offers a remarkable game-viewing experience in Africa.

Accommodation: Serengeti Osinon Camp
After breakfast, we proceed to the central part of the Serengeti National Park, which is well-known for its healthy stock of resident wildlife, particularly the ‘big five’, namely lion, leopard, elephant, buffalo and rhino.

We start with an early morning game drive inside the Ngorongoro Crater. As very few animals migrate in and out of the crater with its 2000 ft high walls, you can expect to see lions, elephants, zebras, hippos, flamingos, jackals, rhinos, antelopes and various species of birds. The Ngorongoro Conservation Area (NCA) is an extensive highland area along the eastern arm of the Rift Valley, with the world-renowned Ngorongoro Crater as its focal point.

Accommodation: Tloma Lodge/Eileen Tree Inn
We depart for Lake Eyasi to visit the bushmen and observe their activities such as hunting and wild fruit gathering. The Hadza, or Hadzabe, are an indigenous ethnic group in north-central Tanzania. They live in Lake Eyasi in the central Rift Valley and in the neighbouring Serengeti Plateau. The Hadza is a population of just under 1,000 living as hunter-gatherers, among the last hunter-gatherers in the world.
