Day by Day Overview

Our Uganda tour begins in Entebbe, where you will be met and transferred to your hotel in Entebbe for dinner and overnight.

Accommodation: Hotel Number 5

A Ganyana safari driver/guide will pick you from your hotel very early in the morning for the drive to Murchison Falls, Uganda’s largest and oldest national park, where four of the big five can be spotted – lion, buffalo, elephant, leopard, along with many other animals. Stopover at Nakasongola where you will have lunch then transfer to Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary, an asylum to the rhinos where you can enjoy a glimpse of the white rhino alongside birds in the vicinity. Later continue on the road to Murchison Falls National Park.

Accommodation: Paraa Safari Lodge/Chobe Safari Lodge

After an early breakfast, set off for a morning game drive on the northern delta Nile – lions, buffalos, waterbucks, Jackson’s hartebeest, Rothschild’s giraffe, oribi and baboons are some of the animals to expect to see. At 11:00 am, you will embark on a three-hour boat cruise on the Nile, which offers an amazing view of Murchison Falls from the bottom angle. Hippos, crocodiles, antelopes and aquatic birds can be seen along the shores of the river. Immediately after the boat launch, you will go for an evening game drive and later head back to your accommodation for dinner and overnight.

Accommodation: Paraa Safari Lodge/Chobe Safari Lodge

Have an early morning breakfast before embarking game viewing in several designated game drive areas. The main areas are the Delta, where there are great chances of seeing lions in wait for prey as they go to drink, the Buligi Peninsula, and the southern sector, known as the heart of Murchison Falls. After game viewing, hike the top of the falls trail which is about 45 minutes from the bottom of the falls. The trail is not so steep so it can be done by everyone and is a rejuvenating activity.

Accommodation: Paraa Safari Lodge/Chobe Safari Lodge

After an early breakfast, you will begin your Gorillas and Savannah Safari as you are transferred west through tea plantations and rolling hills to reach Fort Portal town where you will have lunch en-route before proceeding to Kibale National Park. After checking into the hotel, you will embark on a guided nature walk through the dense papyrus at Magombe Swamp which is part of Bigodi Wetland Sanctuary situated on the edge of Kibale Forest National Park. On your nature walk, you have the chance to spot up to 138 bird species including the great blue turaco, a variety of butterflies and perhaps the real draw card of this swamp – its seven species of monkeys including red colobus, grey-cheeked mangabey, L’Hoest’s, vervet, black and white colobus, blue monkey and baboons.

Accommodation: Kyaninga Lodge

After an early breakfast you will be transferred to the Uganda Wildlife Authority park headquarters where you will be briefed before embarking on your trek to see the chimps in Kibale Forest, the primate capital of the world. A limited number of people spend time with a team of trackers, researchers and the chimpanzees in their natural setting. The habituation experience uses a process that takes up to two years to habituate the chimpanzees to human presence and with your visit you become part of the experiment.

Accommodation: Kyaninga Lodge

Rise up early in the morning and transfer to Queen Elizabeth National Park, Uganda’s most popular and accessible savannah reserve. The area has one of the highest biodiversity ratings of any game reserve in the world including a total of 95 recorded mammal species and more than 610 species of birds. After checking in to your accommodation, you will have a short relaxation and lunch then later enjoy an evening game drive where you will enjoy many wildlife sightings.

Accommodation: Mweya Safari Lodge

Depart for a morning game drive in the Kasenyi Plains aiming to spot lions hunting in the morning. The Kasenyi Plains are a prime location to track prides of lions, which hunt the game herds found here. You’ll be joined on this game drive by a guide from Uganda Wildlife Authority who is an expert in tracking the lions. In addition, expect to spot elephants, buffalo, warthogs, bushbuck, waterbuck and vast herds of Uganda kobs. After lunch you will explore Kazinga Channel on a water safari as the river flows through the heart of the park and connects Lake Edward and Lake George. On your boat cruise, you can spot elephants, buffalo, warthogs and waterbucks as they cool off along the river banks in the heat of the day.

Accommodation: Mweya Safari Lodge

Transfer today to the remote Ishasha Wilderness Camp in the idyllic Southern Ishasha sector of Queen Elizabeth National Park on the Ntungwe River. An exclusive camp with luxury accommodation for those who enjoy the retreat of a true wilderness, Ishasha is also one of only two places in the world where you can see tree-climbing lions.

Accommodation: Ishasha Wilderness Camp

You will exit Queen Elizabeth National Park through the Ishasha Plains in the southern sector of Queen Elizabeth National Park for another epic game drive. Ishasha is famous for its iconic tree-climbing lions that climb trees to catch the cool breezes. After your game drive, you will leave Queen Elizabeth National Park and head to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park.

Accommodation: Mahogany Springs Lodge

With an early breakfast and a packed lunch, you will be transferred to the Uganda Wildlife Authority park headquarters where you’ll be briefed on the gorilla tracking which begins at 8:00 am. You will then be guided into the jungle to track the shy primates. Gorilla habituation is done in southern Bwindi Impenetrable Forest in the Rushaga section. Only four participants are allowed to join the habituation experiment every day. Visitors have a golden opportunity to spend four hours with the gorillas as they go about their daily life of feeding, playing, grooming and bonding.

Accommodation: Mahogany Springs Lodge

With a sumptuous African breakfast, you will transfer from the lodge to the Kisoro airstrip for your Aerolink flight back to Entebbe. Meet with your driver guide and transfer to Mabamba Swamp on the shores of Lake Victoria, where you will set out on the water in a local canoe guided by an expert birder. You will explore the swamp in search of the infamous shoebill stork, the grey crowned crane, Uganda’s National Bird, saddle-billed stork, African fish eagle and malachite kingfisher. Your guide will then drive you across town to Entebbe International Airport in time for you to check in for your outbound flight back home.
