Day by Day Overview
You’ll be collected from your hotel at 0730 and leave for the dramatic semi-arid scrub land of the northern frontier. Arrive in Samburu National Reserve by lunch time after which you’ll head off on a game drive to search for the resident wildlife such as the reticulated giraffe, Grevy’s zebra, beisa oryx and blue-necked Somali ostrich, the latter which is rare elsewhere in the country. Dinner and overnight will be at a lodge/luxury tented camp.
Enjoy a full day exploring the Samburu with its spectacular scenic beauty; rivers, permanent springs and forests as well as the rich and colourful heritage of the local people and wealth of wildlife which includes leopard, hippo, elephant, lion, reticulated giraffe, grevy’s zebra and crocodile in the Ewaso Nyiro River. Over 365 species of birds have been identified in the sanctuaries. Dinner and overnight stay at a lodge/luxury camp.
After breakfast depart for Lake Nakuru, arriving in time for lunch at your lodge, located within Lake Nakuru National Park. In the afternoon you will embark on a game drive where you have the opportunity to spot leopards, rhino and the famous pink flamingos as well as a variety of other wildlife. Lake Nakuru is famous for its flamingos as well as over 400 species of birds found here. The lake itself is a soda lake on the floor of the rift valley and has also earned a reputation as an important haven for endangered species, particularly the Rothschild giraffe and black and white rhino. Lions, water buck, buffalo and baboons are all residents here. Dinner and overnight at a lodge/luxury camp.
Today you head to the Masai Mara Game Reserve, land of vast numbers of migrating animals. Arrival will be in time for lunch after which you embark on a game drive. Dinner and overnight at a lodge/luxury camp.
Spend two days in Masai Mara Game Reserve with early morning and evening game drives. Explore one of the most famous and most beautiful national parks in Africa, with the chance to spot the Big Five, predators and an abundance of other wildlife. Over 450 species of animals have been recorded here. Be on the look out for elephant, lion, rhino, hippo, crocodile, giraffe, wildebeest, zebra, buffalo, warthog, hyena, jackal, wild dog, leopard and many kinds of antelopes. It is in the Mara that one of the natural world’s most spectacular events takes place – the annual migration of millions of wildebeest and zebra from the Serengeti in Tanzania, in search of water and pasture. Following on their heels are a range of predators including lion, cheetah, wild dog, jackal, hyena and vultures. All meals and overnights at lodge/luxury tented camp or Olmoran Lodge/Sopa Lodge.
Morning game drives then return to the lodge for breakfast. Depart the lodge and drive to Nairobi where the safari ends.
