Day by Day Overview

07:00 pickup from Nairobi airport or hotel. Proceed via the central highlands of Kenya with views of coffee, tea, sisal, pineapple and subsistence farming activities. Local African homesteads dot the red soiled slopes of this region and there are startling views of Mt. Kenya with its snow–capped peaks. Afternoon game viewing drive in the Samburu, Shaba and Buffalo Springs Reserves.

The day is spent enjoying game viewing drives and relaxing interludes in Samburu National Reserve. Drives in this dry and scenic game reserve are concentrated along the banks of the Ewaso Nyiro River where most wildlife is found. This sun-draped park offers a wonderful variety of unusual game like the reticulated giraffe and Grevy’s zebra as well as opportunities to view more commonly known wildlife like leopard, cheetah, lion and buffalo.

Early morning game and scenery viewing drive as you exit the Samburu. Stop to take in the drama of 74 m high Thompson Falls at Nyahururu. Proceed to Lake Nakuru National Park on the floor of the Great Rift Valley. This is a birders heaven where birdlife abounds with flamingos seen together with pelicans and other bird species. The lake is host to the black and white rhino species, warthogs, lions, zebras, giraffe, hippopotamus and much more.

An early bird and game viewing drive at Lake Nakuru National Park then proceed to the Masai Mara Game Reserve, arriving in time for an afternoon game viewing drive. You’ll enjoy plenty of large and small wildlife on the great acacia accented savannahs here.

Today shall be a game viewing extravaganza! Masai Mara Game Reserve remains one of the most exciting wildlife eco-system in the natural world. It is host to the highest and most varied concentration of wild animals than any other wildlife park in the region. The scenic appeal of the tree studded savannah plains, the moderate climate and diversity of wild game species makes it a one stop shop for game viewing activities. We traverse the Masai Mara Reserve on a full day of unlimited game viewing encountering the big five and much more. Visit the Mara River to watch hippos and crocodiles. During the migration season (July – October) you’ll be treated to the unforgettable sight of thousands of wildebeests and zebra making their way across the river.

Early pre-breakfast game viewing drive before an extra final game drive as you exit the Masai Mara and head to Nairobi, arriving in the late afternoon. The safari finishes at approximately 4:30 pm, you’ll be dropped off at a Nairobi hotel or the airport.
