Day by Day Overview

Our driver guide will pick you up from your hotel or place of residence in Kampala and you set off to the north-west through famous Luwero Triangle and Masindi Town. Branch off for a visit to Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary for a guided rhino walk and picnic lunch. Proceed to Murchison Falls National Park with sightseeing en route to your lodge.

  • Travel time 5+ hrs
  • Dinner and overnight at Para Safari Lodge/Nile Safari Lodge (High end), Murchison River Lodge (Mid-range end) or Heritage Safari Lodge (Low end facility)
  • Meal plan: Half Board

After your cup of coffee, set off with your guide who will help you spot elephant, lion, Cape buffalo, Rothschild’s giraffe, hartebeest, waterbuck, oribi, bushbuck, Bohor reedbuck, hyena and if you are lucky, leopard. Return to the hotel for breakfast and lunch. After lunch, go for a boat safari along the calm Victoria Nile to the base of the falls, stopping just tens of meters from the ‘Devil’s Cauldron’. En route marvel at the toothsome hippos and crocodiles and over this 17 km stretch you may also see elephant, waterbuck and Uganda kob crocodile. This is also a zone of many bird species like Goliath heron, Egyptian goose, pelican bee-eater, kingfisher, hornbill, cormorant and the rare shoebill stork.

You leave the boat and start your – quite heavy – hike to the top of the Falls, which takes approx. one hour. See where the world’s longest river explodes violently through a narrow cleft in the Rift Valley escarpment to plunge into a frothing pool 43 m below. Your driver/guide will be waiting for you to bring you back to the lodge.

  • Dinner and overnight at Para Safari Lodge/Nile Safari Lodge (High end), Murchison River Lodge (Mid-range end) or Heritage Safari Lodge (Low end facility)
  • Meal plan: Full Board

After an early morning breakfast, drive back to Kampala at your convenience with lunch en route. You will arrive in the afternoon or evening and your guide will drop you at your hotel or residence in Kampala or at Entebbe Airport to catch your onward flight.
