Day by Day Overview

Pick up from your Kenya coast beach resort and proceed on the interior drive along the Mombasa-Nairobi highway. The 4-hour drive on smooth tarmac shall include refreshment stops. Enter the scenic Tsavo West National Park and commence game viewing drives. Wildlife you may see includes leopard, buffalo, elephant, giraffe, zebra, lion, wild dog, lesser kudu, hyrax, rhino, porcupine as well as prolific birdlife with over 600 species. In the mid-afternoon visit the Rhino Sanctuary, an endangered animal species the rhino is protected in this sanctuary.

Sunrise finds us ready and out for our morning game viewing drive. Visit the Mzima Springs and explore this crystal clear water source on foot marveling at the hippos, crocodiles, exotic fish and resident and migratory bird species. Later proceed further south to Amboseli National Park, a 2-hour journey on gravel tracks. Head out on an afternoon game drive when we go out in search of wildlife including vast elephant herds, leopard, cheetah, buffalo, giraffe, zebra, lion, mongoose, hyrax, dik-dik and kudu. Amboseli National Park is relatively small and sparse of vegetation making animal spotting fairly easy when lucky. You may see Mount Kilimanjaro in all its majesty with its snow-capped peaks may gleam in the afternoon African sun, a beautiful sight to experience when weather permits.

Enjoy a full day of game viewing drives with plenty of time to soak up the wildlife and magnificent scenery. We’ve allowed time for relaxation as well. There will be an early morning game drive followed by breakfast then a mid-morning drive. After a comfortable lunch we’ll set out on a later afternoon game drive. Between the game drives, relax at your Amboseli lodge or camp, where meals and other activities are provided. As always, your safari vehicle and driver/guide are at your disposal for even more game viewing drives.

Dawn in Amboseli National Park is a beautiful time of day when you enjoy game viewing drives with views of Mount Kilimanjaro (weather permitting). We shall game watch as we exit after a hearty breakfast and drive to rejoin the Nairobi-Mombasa highway proceeding to Tsavo East National Park. On arrival head out on a late afternoon game drive in the park. Game viewing drives at the Tsavo East will be relaxed and appreciative, drinking in the serenity of the savanna while reflecting and appreciating the essence of the natural world looking for wildlife such as vast herds of dust-red elephant, rhino, buffalo, lion, leopard, hippo, crocodile, waterbuck, kudu, gerenuk and hirola. Your driver/guide will point out the animals and narrate on their characteristics.

Dawn finds us ready for our early morning and final safari game viewing drive. Tsavo East is large and open savanna country and we explore this vastness on a relaxed game drive with time spent at the sightings. Lunch is at an open air restaurant overlooking the Tsavo East plains followed by the drive back to Mombasa and the Kenya coast, arriving in the late afternoon/early evening. Drop off at your Kenya beach resort.
