Day by Day Overview

Upon your arrival at Queen Alia International Airport, you will be met by our representative who will help you through formalities and assist you to your coach. Transfer to Amman for overnight.

Airport to Amman: 35 km –  32 minutes

Breakfast at hotel and then depart to Amman’s Old City to visit two of the most popular archaeological sites in the city: the Citadel and the Roman Theatre. Stop for lunch at a local restaurant to experience authentic local food. Enjoy shopping at the old city’s markets, where you can get some great souvenirs and folkloric clothes and headscarfs. During your city tour in Amman you will have a cooking experience in Bait Settie, which offers a cook and dine experience where you come and learn how to prepare a traditional Arabic meal with the help of a Hajjeh, and then get to eat the food that you have prepared, in their grandmother’s house found in one of Ammans oldest neighborhoods, Jabal al weibdeh. Return to your hotel in Amman.

After breakfast, your first visit today is to Al-Salt, a hilltop town about a 40-minute drive from Amman. The city has many old yellow limestone buildings, as well as small narrow streets full of shops and stalls. It is also an example of good understanding between the local Muslim and Christian population. You will take a walk on the “Harmony Trail” to learn more about the city and local life in Jordan. Enjoy lunch with the locals to taste the delicious Jordanian cuisine. Afterwards, you go down to Bethany (50 mins driving from Salt, 40 km), where John baptized Jesus Christ, Several churches, caves and swimming pools dating from the Roman and Byzantine periods have been discovered here. Visit by electric minibus then return to Amman.

Breakfast at Amman hotel and then check out. Drive to Madaba (45 mins, 38 km) to visit Saint George’s church where you will see the Mosaic of the Holy Land. Continue to Mount Nebo (15 mins, 9.5 km) to visit the site where Moses was granted a view of the Promised Land. Head south to the ancient Crusader castle of Kerak (2 hours, 127 km) and explore the maze of stone vaulted halls and passages. Kerak was the capital of Moab and its castle dominates the skyline. The Crusader’s castle provides an impressive insight into the architectural and military skills of the Crusaders. Proceed to Petra (2 hrs 20 mins, 174 km) where you will have dinner in Petra kitchen. You’ll work alongside local chefs to prepare dishes found on a typical family’s menu using fresh ingredients.

After breakfast you will visit the site of Petra, the legacy of the Nabataeans, an industrious Arab people who settled in southern Jordan more than 2,000 years ago. Admired then for its refined culture, massive architecture and ingenious complex of dams and water channels, Petra is a UNESCO World Heritages Site and one of the new Seven Wonders of the World. Inhabited by the Nabateans, Edomites and Romans, Petra brought together the knowledge and skill of these civilizations to create this world wonder. Caravans laden with incense, silks, spices and other exotic goods would rest at Petra. The traditional way through the Siq (Canyon) is a guided tour through the Siq to the Treasury. We will visit the Treasury, city center, the Royal tomb, the theater, the High Place of Sacrifice and the Roman soldier tombs and much more. After your tour you will have lunch with a local family.

Transfer from Petra to Wadi Rum (113 km, 1 hour 47 mins) after breakfast. On arrrival at Wadi Rum you will meet your Bedouin Guide at the Visitor Center and then board 4×4 jeeps for a tour of Wadi Rum, exploring the spectacular scenic desert landscape of Jordan’s largest desert. You will see the Nabatean Scripts, Lawrence’s House, Lawrence’s face, Burj Um Frouth and the Mushroom mountain. We will also pass Jabal Burdha for a small climb to the top to enjoy one of the best viewpoints in Wadi Rum. There will also be a short camel ride during your tour. Head to Um Eshreen for a locally made lunch by your Bedouin guide. Later on have dinner and spend the night wild camping in the desert.

After breakfast drive down to the lowest point of the earth (302 km, 4 hours). Its surface and shores are 430.5 metres below sea level, Earth’s lowest elevation on land. The warm, soothing, super salty water itself – some ten times saltier than sea water – is rich in chloride salts of magnesium, sodium, potassium, bromine and several others. Enjoy the floating experience. Head back to Amman (50 mins, 52 km) for overnight.

Have some free time in the morning until your departure time when you will be picked up and transferred to Queen Alia International Airport (35 km, 32 minutes).
