Day by Day Overview
Today you will reach Kovalam and check-in at the hotel. The rest of the day you will visit Kovalam beach, enjoying the pleasant weather around. Kovalam beach is considered to be the best beach in Kerala and here you will find many cafes along the sandy beach where you can enjoy a variety of beverages. Spend the evening time sitting in the middle of it, watching the beautiful view of the sunset.
This morning you will begin an introductory cycling tour. You will go to the fishermen’s village around Balam while cycling and see the people here doing their daily chores. Today you will be cycling for about 10 km and if you want to increase it then there is an option of up to 32 km. In the afternoon you can enjoy surfing on the sandy beaches and spend time relaxing. In the evening you can see the beautiful sight of fishing boats returning home at sunset. Here you can enjoy the famous Ayurvedic massage therapy of Kerala which has the ability to cure many diseases.
Today you will be cycling 20 km along the seashore to a lake called Veli Lagun and will pass through many fishermen’s villages. Here you will see rural fishermen working on their boats and nets. On the other side of the lake is the Anjengo Fort built by the British East India Company in the 17th century, where you will go for cycling excursions. Apart from this, you will also visit the ancient temple of Janardhana Swamy, which is a famous religious site. In the evening you will see the spectacular sunset relaxing on Varkala beach. Today you will do cycling safari for about 37 km.
Today you will do cycling safaris in many traditional villages of Kerala and will visit the fishermen’s village where cashew and coconut plantations will be present all around. After spending some time on the seashore, you will reach the Ashta Mundi lagoon lake. All the houses in the village here are in typical Kerala style and look very beautiful. The village is located at the southern end of the famous backwater and from here you can get a clear idea about the network of canals. Today you will visit these beautiful villages and do a cycling safari for about 36 kilometers
After breakfast this morning, you will start a cycling safari from the countryside. During your cycle journey, you will ride a big boat in which you will see other people loading in bicycles and motorcycles. After crossing the river you will be cycling continuously to reach the village called Thottapalli where you will visit the famous Manarsala Snake Temple. In this village, you will also be able to see objects made from the outer husk of the coconut. Here you will see fishermen fishing and making pottery. From here onward you will travel for 3 hours, taking a comfortable boat ride through the backwaters. During this trip, you will see many rural areas inhabited around the backwater network. Passing through the large rice fields you will reach Alleppey, an ancient trading town. Today you will be cycling for about 39 km.
Today you will do a cycling safari in the beautiful village around the Alleppey back water. Today you will get an opportunity to interact with the local people and will be able to share your thoughts with them. During this time you will also get the opportunity to visit many churches and temples located here. You will see people preparing houseboats in the traditional way and local people pushing the finished boat into the water. To do this, the locals push the boat standing in a row as they sing traditional songs. Today you will travel by cycling for about 35 km.
Today you will be cycling to a new place, Erattupetta, where you will see the rubber plantation. It is a slightly hilly region with a slightly colder climate. The experience of cycling under the shade of tall rubber trees is thrilling in itself. Here you will stay at the home of a local family where you will be served traditional curries and other Indian dishes. You will spend the rest of the time wandering in the rubber plantations located here. Today, you will cover approximately 33 km by cycling safari.
Today your cycling safari tour is dedicated to a tree plantation campaign. You will get a very good opportunity to meet the local people when you participate in the plantation with them. During this time you will plant many fruits and medicinal plants with the local people and get unique information. After this, you will visit Poonjar Palace which is a very beautiful palace. Although the Maharaja and his family have lived in this palace for the last 900 years till now, you will be able to see the scene from outside. Today you will be cycling for about 9 km but if you want to increase by yourself, there is also the option of cycling safari up to 32 km.
Today you will be cycling on the mountainous paths to Thekkady by sport options and cycling safari. On the way, you will pass through a place called Waghmore where you will see beautiful tea gardens. Here, while on your cycling safari, you will roam in beautiful tea gardens and visit rubber plantations and spice gardens. Here you will also visit a tea factory and see different varieties of tea being made on Divya. At the end of the journey, you will pass through some beautiful towns where you will be able to feel the aroma of spice shops passing through the paths. Today you will travel almost 30 km by cycling in total.
Today is dedicated to visiting wild animals in Periyar National Park. In the secluded environment of this sanctuary, you will be able to see much wildlife. In the morning you will go for a walk in the jungle and see star turtle, porcupine, elephant, Indian bison, flying squirrel and birds of many species. Trees of more than 40 meters in height are present in this evergreen tropical forest. There are also some such species of plants in the shade of trees where there is very little need for living light. Apart from this, you will also see open grasslands here, in which wild elephants can usually be seen wandering.
Today after breakfast you will be cycling on the winding roads of Kuttikanam amidst beautiful views. Here you will ride for 20 km free wheeling because there isa great cycle descent here until Kuttikanam. After a 3-hour journey you will reach Kochi, a beautiful historical city. You will find Dutch and Portuguese influences in the culture and architecture here. Kochi is also considered to be the major center of the famous Kathakali dance in which the face of the rivers is painted for more than 3 hours. The dance features epics like Ramayana and Mahabharata with facial expressions and eye gestures. Today you will travel for about 30 km by cycling.
Today you will go sightseeing in Kochi while on your cycling safari. First of all, you will visit Kochi Port which was built in the second century BC. At that time, Kochi was an important trading center for China, Arabs, and Phoenicians. You will also see Portuguese and Dutch-style palaces built here in the 16th century. Apart from this, you will also visit the famous Chinese fishing nets in Kochi. In the end, you will visit an old European church and synagogue. You will spend the evening time sitting on the beach and watching the sunset. Today you will do cycling safari for about 10 km.
Today your cycling safari tour ends in Kochi. In the morning after breakfast, you will be transferred to the International Airport where you will take a flight back home.
