Day by Day Overview

Upon your arrival at Maun Airport you’ll be collected from the airport and transferred to your camp in Makgadikgadi National Park, about 140 kilometres southeast of Maun. The eastern bank of the Boteti River forms the boundary of the Makgadikgadi Pans National Park, which stretches away from the riverbank towards its interior of scrub land and mineral rich grasslands. The Boteti River is the main outflow of the Okavango Delta. This area plays host to the spectacular zebra migrations. Lunch and dinner are included.

Today ‘s wake up call is at 05:30 followed by breakfast. You then depart for your morning game drive around this area. The Makgadikgadi Pans Game Reserve with its salt pan is an area of 3,900 sq km situated in the middle of the dry savanna of north-eastern Botswana. It is one of the largest salt flats in the world and the pan is all that remains of the formerly enormous Lake Makgadikgadi. An afternoon game drive concludes activities of the day. Lunch and dinner are included in this day.

Peeking out from under a lush green woodland canopy in Moremi or Xakanaxa area is a truly hidden gem, which is your next camping destination after Makgadikgadi. At the point where the life-giving waters of the Okavango Delta meet the vast plains of the Kalahari Desert, Mother Nature has created a sanctuary of mopane forests, open grasslands, seasonal floodplains and riverine habitats, resulting in one of the most magnificent and welcoming animal environments in all of Africa, which is Moremi Game Reserve. You will explore this area on game drives followed by dinner at the campsite.

Today your destination will be Khwai Concession. The Khwai River flows through the concession and mirrors the surrounding marshlands. As the first port of call for animals migrating from the Linyanti Reserve, the river banks and dry savannas are abundantly populated with roan and sable antelope, buffalo, zebra, and giraffe among others. This area is an insight of part of Botswana’s culture, it host traditional houses and way of living for these people. All of these moments will be captured through game drives.

Spend the following two nights camping in a wilderness campsite in the Savute region, exploring the desert-like landscape on game drives. Never has there been a better time to visit Savute! The water from the Savute Channel reached the marsh for the first time in 30 years in 2010 winding its way from the north. The Savuti channel is now flowing again and this area has seen the return of its prominence as one of the best game areas in Africa. With large herds of buffalo having returned, the lions are also extremely active. All meals and drinks are included.
