Kenya

Guided, Small Group

Mid Range
Our Kenya safari begins in the shadow of Mount Kilimanjaro in the southern part of Kenya, in Amboseli National Park. Our next stop will be Lake Naivasha and Lake Nakuru, hugged by grassy banks and shingled with cacti and sand olive trees. Masai Mara National Reserve will mark our last stop, a huge expanse of gently rolling grassland – specked with flat-topped acacia trees and trampled by massive herds of zebras and wildebeest among other animals.

East Africa’s most cosmopolitan city, Nairobi, is Kenya’s beating heart, an exciting, frenetic concrete jungle that counterpoints the untrammeled natural beauty to be found elsewhere in the country. Meet and greet and transfer you to Nairobi city hotel.
Breakfast is served at the city hotel followed by early check-out. Then we will drive you by road to Amboseli National Park. Its signature attraction is the sight of hundreds of big-tusked elephants set against the backdrop of Africa’s best views of Mt Kilimanjaro (5,895m). Africa’s highest peak broods over the southern boundary of the park, and while cloud cover can render the mountain’s massive bulk invisible for much of the day, you’ll be rewarded with stunning vistas when the weather clears, usually at dawn or dusk.
Experience morning and afternoon game drives with magnificent elephant sightings, you’ll also see resident wildebeest and zebras, and you’ve a reasonable chance of spotting lions, cheetahs and hyenas. The park is also home to over 370 bird species, and it has an excellent array of lodges and an agreeably mild, dry climate.
Sumptuous breakfast is served at the lodge followed by check-out. Our driver-guide will transfer you by road to Lake Naivasha via Nairobi Capital, hugged by grassy banks and shingled with cacti and sand olive trees, the Rift Valley’s highest lake (at 1884m above sea level) extends like a vast, sunlit sea. But there’s more to this spot than the lovely blue lake.
Arrive in time for lunch and check-in. Lake Naivasha Sopa Resort will set our tone for the next two nights. Set in one hundred and fifty acres of grassland studded with Acacia bushes and trees, the resort is not only home to our resident giraffe, waterbuck and both vervet and colobus monkeys, but it is also a night stop for the hippos when they leave the lake every night to come and trim the grass on our expansive lawns. In the afternoon proceed for a boat ride to Crescent Island, it’s one of the few places in the Rift Valley where you can walk among giraffes, zebras, waterbucks, impalas and countless bird species.
Next day proceed for Lake Nakuru National Park home to both black and white rhinos, lions, leopards, hippos and endangered Rothschild’s giraffes.. The park is mainly a wooded and bushy grassland with a wide ecological diversity and characteristic habitats that range from the lake waters to the escarpment and ridges.
Sumptuous breakfast is served followed by check-out. We will make our lovely drive to the famous Masai Mara National Reserve. This huge expanse of gently rolling grassland – specked with flat-topped acacia trees and trampled by massive herds of zebras and wildebeest – is the ultimate African cliché. But for once the reality lives up to the image and the Masai Mara, which comprises not just the famous reserve but also around a dozen community conservancies, several group ranches and numerous Maasai villages, is for many people not just the highlight of their Kenyan adventure but the very reason they came in the first place. Arrive in time for lunch and check-in. Venture out for the afternoon game drive within in search of the Mara big cats and other nocturnal species.
Begin your day with an early morning game drive with picnic breakfast exploring the pristine wilderness of the Masai Mara. If you’re travelling during the months of the wildebeest migration, it will be the ideal time from which to witness this spectacle. You will also have the opportunity to enjoy a visit to the Maasai village to heighten your senses, or if you’re feeling adventurous perhaps an exhilarating hot air balloon safari would do the trick at an *extra cost.
Breakfast is served at the lodge followed by check out. You will be transferred by road to NBO International Airport Nairobi for your flight back home and bid you farewell.
