Day by Day Overview
On arrival at Kigali International Airport you will be warmly welcomed by a Vazquez Tours & Travel representative. They will brief you about your tour in Rwanda and transfer you to your hotel in Kigali. Arrive at Kigali Serena Hotel for an overnight stay and dinner.

07:30 breakfast at the hotel followed by a city tour of Kigali, one of the cleanest and friendliest cities in Africa. The tour offers in-depth knowledge of Kigali’s bitter past and its bright future assuring that you feel a connection with the vibrant city’s heartbeat. Lunch at one of the best restaurants in town. After lunch, our tour guide will drive you to Akagera National Park ine the eastern part of Rwanda, a 2.5 hour drive from Kigali. On arrival transfer to park headquarters for registration and then proceed on a boat ride on Lake Ihema. Afterwards, the driver guide will transfer you to Ruzizi Tented Lodge for check in, dinner and overnight.

After an early 06:30 breakfast at the hotel proceed on a game drivein Akagera National Park. Plenty of animals can be seen including elephants, giraffes, buffaloes, zebras, hippos, rhinos and crocodiles as well as other mammal species. Known as one of the most scenic savannahs in East Africa, the game drive in Akagera National Park provides you with opportunity to view gentle hills blending beautifully with lowland swamps and water bodies. Lucky visitors might stumble across a leopard, a spotted hyena or even a stray lion. Giraffes and zebras haunt the savannah and more than a dozen types of antelope inhabit the park, most commonly the handsome chestnut-coated impala and the world’s largest antelope, the statuesque cape eland. Have lunch en-route and in the afternoon exit with more game viewing en route. Transfer to Volcanoes National Park in Musanze – Kinigi in the north western side of the country. Arrive at Five Volcanoes Boutique Hotel for check in, dinner and overnight.

After an early breakfast at 06:00, your driver guide will transfer your to Volcanoes National Park headquarters for registration and briefing. Your driver guide will assist and facilitate on identifying a gorilla family to visit. Tracking can be between 90 minutes and 6 hours depending on what family group is assigned. Once you find the family, you will spend one hour with the gorillas, sometimes moving around to stay with the gorillas or following them. The guide will ensure you are in the best spots to take the most beautiful pictures and experience this breathtaking experience properly. You will then drive back to the hotel for lunch and refreshment. Later in the afternoon, you will visit Gorilla Guardians former Iby’iwacu Cultural Village. This cultural village displays the traditional lifestyle of a Rwandan including dress code, food growing, processing and preparation, traditional wedding ceremonies and interpersonal relationship within the community. Return to hotel for dinner and overnight stay.

Breakfast at 07:00 followed by a transfer to Nyungwe National Park. On your way you will visit the newly built King’s Palace at Nyanza, based in Nyanza District. Mutara III Rudahigwa’s palace offers a detailed look into the Rwanda monarchial system and its abolition in the early 1960s due to colonialism. The palace was restored to its 19th century state as a replica and was made entirely with traditional materials. Recently the long honored royal cows ‘Inyambo’ were introduced because cows form an integral part of the Rwanda culture and were initially the King’s symbol of prestige. After visiting the King’s Palace Museum at Nyanza, you will have lunch and proceed to Nyungwe National Park. Arrive at One & Only Nyungwe Housefor check in, dinner and overnight.

After a very early breakfast at 04:30, you will proceed to the park headquarters for a briefing at 05:00. Then head off on a chimpanzee trek. During trekking you might spot primates like the colobus monkeys plus viewing other inhabitants of the forest like birds and butterflies. Later return to your lodge for lunch and refreshment.
Later in the afternoon, you will drive to Uwinka Visitor Center for a canopy tour. The two hour walk on top of the forest offers you impressive views of the Nyungwe forest and the wide variety of species that thrive there including primates and birds. Return to your hotel for dinner and overnight.

Breakfast in the hotel at 06:30 before checking out to begin your journey back to Kigali city. You will make a stop in Butare to visit the Ethnographic Museum; the largest museum in Rwanda with over 100,000 artifacts attaining to the history and traditions of Rwanda. Enjoy lunch at one of the best restaurant in Butare. Later drive to Kigali International Airport for your departure flight.
