Day by Day Overview
We will meet you at Kilimanjaro International Airport (JRO) once your inbound flight has landed and transfer you to Arusha Safari Lodge where we’ll be staying for the night. We will gather in the evening for a pre-safari briefing and an equipment check. We will also confirm you have the appropriate mandatory medical coverage and travel insurance.
We’ll take breakfast at Arusha Safari Lodge followed by a safari briefing before departing for Tarangire National Park, arriving in good time for lunch first. Your safari experience will be a thrilling afternoon game drive through the vast plains of the park. At the end of the day, we’ll settle into Eileen’s Trees Inn Lodge for dinner and an overnight stay.
We’ll depart from the lodge and proceed directly to Lake Manyara National Park. Although small in size, this park is one of the most diverse reserves in the country: two-thirds of it are covered by Lake Manyara, its backdrop is the Great Rift Valley and it’s home to a number of diverse habitats including groundwater forest, open grassland on the lake shore and the soda lake. We’ll enjoy a picnic lunch in this exciting landscape consisting of grassy plains, hot springs, dense woodlands and steep mountains. Lake Manyara National Park is a birding paradise which plays home to more than 350 species of birds. The park is also famed for its unique and elusive tree-climbing lions. We’ll return in the evening to Eileen’s Trees Inn Lodge for dinner and an overnight stay.
Today we’ll proceed to Olduvai Gorge, also known as the ‘Cradle of Mankind’. It was here, in the Great Rift Valley, that the remains of early hominids dating back 2 million years were uncovered. Afterwards, we head to the most famous wildlife sanctuary in the world – Serengeti National Park. The word ‘Serengeti’ means ‘endless plains’, which describes the park’s 5,600 square mile boundary. We’ll enjoy a picnic lunch in this enthralling open arena before heading to Serengeti Asili Wilderness Tented Camp for dinner and an overnight stay.
We’ll depart from the Serengeti for a game drive through the Ngorongoro Crater. At the top of the crater, the views of the caldera and the animals scattered below are breathtaking. We’ll venture onto the crater floor for a closer look at the animal residents of this remarkable World Heritage Site and enjoy a lovely picnic lunch. The Ngorongoro Crater provides great game viewing all year round. The wildlife here makes up a permanent population because grazing and water supplies are plentiful throughout the seasons. We’ll take a final evening game drive back to Arusha, where we’ll set up at the Arusha Safari Lodge for a farewell dinner and an overnight stay.
After the conclusion of your safari experience, we will transfer you to Kilimanjaro International Airport (JRO) in time for your outbound flight. Enjoy your next adventure!
