Touching down in Nairobi, our tour leader meets you and handles your transfer to the city hotel.
Have breakfast then depart to Lake Naivasha, which lies in the Great Rift Valley. The name is derived from the local Maasai name Nai’posha, meaning “rough water” because of the sudden storms which can arise. This is a cool and peaceful escape from Nairobi’s big-city hustle. With over 400 species of bird, this freshwater lake is a birding Paradise. Along the lake’s fabled waters, we are bound to see some of the area’s more intriguing species—hippos, giraffes, buffalo and even the arboreal colobus monkey. Arrive in Naivasha few minutes to noon for check-in and lunch at Kiangazi House. After lunch we visit Crescent Island — a private sanctuary, where you can walk in search of giraffes, wildebeest, impala, dik diks, Grant’s gazelles, elands, waterbucks and countless bird species. There is an optional boat ride on the lake to take glimpse of the many water bird species and hippos.
After a delicious breakfast, we depart to Lake Nakuru National Park for a full day game viewing experience. The Nakuru National Park, is a sanctuary for birds, Rothschild giraffes and both black and white rhinos. Other mammals in abundance include waterbucks, buffalos, gazelles, lions, baboons and the elusive leopards.
After breakfast at your lodge, depart by road to Maasai Mara Game Reserve. The Maasai Mara is Kenya’s finest and most outstanding wildlife sanctuary where gentle rolling grassland ensures animals are never out of sight. The climate is perfect, rarely too hot and well spread rainfall year round. The sensation of the great wildebeest migration between July and October is unparalleled. Arrive in Maasai Mara late afternoon. Check-in, have lunch and then head out to explore the Reserve on a late evening game drive. Here you will be lucky to spot the big five of the savannah – lion, elephant, leopard, rhino and Cape buffalo are in abundance.
Today we will be spending in the great ecosystem of the Mara hunting for the big five of the savannah and many others. You can decide to go for an optional balloon safari (extra cost). The annual wildebeest migration is expected in the Maasai Mara between July and early November so plan your trip around this time if you want to experience this natural wonder – millions of animals migrating to the Masai Mara from Tanzania’s Serengeti in search of fresh green pastures and water.
An early morning breakfast then we depart to Nairobi with a last game drive en route. Arrive in Nairobi late in the afternoon for lunch. Spend the rest of the afternoon in your city hotel at leisure waiting for your flight back home or onwards to another destination.
