Day by Day Overview

The first day of your safari will begin by 8 am with a pick up from your hotel at Arusha. Once everyone is aboard, you will head towards Lake Manyara National Park. This is one of Tanzania’s smaller parks but still offers a rewarding and diverse safari experience. It is an unspoiled paradise of ground water forest fed by underground springs and teeming with wildlife such as elephants, hippos, giraffes, buffaloes, antelopes, and some of the largest baboon troops in Africa. The lake shore at Manyara teems with birdlife, and while you are looking for the birds, you might spot one of the elusive tree-climbing lions, people flock from all over the world to see these iconic predators lounging in the trees. There are a surprising number of other large mammals and the striking cliffs on the Rift Escarpment form a dramatic backdrop.

On this day you leave Manyara/Karatu to Ngorongoro Crater. You’ll arrive Ngorongoro after 30 minutes then we’ll descend over 600m to the crater to view the wildlife in it. The Ngorongoro Crater is one of the most densely crowded African wildlife areas in the world and is home to an estimated 30,000 animals including some of Tanzania’s last remaining black rhino. Supported by a year-round water supply and fodder, the Ngorongoro National Park supports a vast variety of animals, which include herds of wildebeest, zebra, buffalo, eland, warthog, hippo, and giant African elephants. Another big draw card to this picturesque national park, is its dense population of predators, which include lions, hyenas, jackals, cheetahs and the ever-elusive leopard, which sometimes requires a trained eye to spot. We will also visit Lake Magadi, a large but shallow alkaline lake in the south western corner, which is one of the main features of the crater. A large number of flamingos, hippos and other water birds can usually be seen here.

Today you depart from Ngorongoro to Serengeti National Park. Leaving the highlands behind, descend into the heart of wild Africa; the Serengeti National Park with its endless plains, rolling into the distance as far as the eye can see. You head to the central park area, known as the Seronera area, one of the richest wildlife habitats in the park, featuring the Seronera River, which provides a valuable water source to this area and therefore attracts wildlife well representative of most of the Serengeti’s species. Arrive in time for lunch and enjoy an afternoon game drive in the Serengeti National Park.

After breakfast, enjoy two full day game drive in Serengeti National Park. The area around Lobo and the Grumeti River has good resident game throughout the year. Non-migrating animals like elephant, buffalo, gazelle, zebra, lion, leopard and cheetah can be seen here all year round. The game viewing is very good and you can follow game for long periods without seeing other vehicles – truly one of the forgotten corners of the Serengeti Plains. Magnificent riverine trees can be found along the river lines and bird species such as kingfishers and fish eagles can be found.

After breakfast at the camp, we depart for Seronera airstrip and enjoy a game drive en-route.
Around mid-morning, join a scheduled flight from Seronera airstrip to Arusha airport. Upon arrival, meet our driver who’ll drive you to Arusha town. We will have our lunch and then we will end our African safari adventure. You will be taken to your hotel or airport, which ends our safari services.
