Mikumi National Park is Tanzania’s fourth largest national park and the most accessible from Dar es Salaam. Its set between the Uluguru Mountains to the north and the Lumango Mountains to the south-east. Within its 3230 sq km area, Mikumi is home to buffaloes, giraffes, elephants, lions, pythons zebras, leopards, crocodiles and much more. The Selous Game Reserve, covering 50,000 sq km, is amongst the largest protected areas in Africa and is relatively undisturbed by human impact. The property harbours one of the most significant concentrations of elephant, black rhinoceros, cheetah, giraffe, hippopotamus and crocodile, amongst many other species. The reserve also has an exceptionally high variety of habitats including Miombo woodlands, open grasslands, riverine forests and swamps, making it a valuable laboratory for on-going ecological and biological processes.

You will be picked up from Dar-es-Salaam airport, ferry or hotel for the drive directly to Mikumi National Park. We stop at Morogoro for lunch then still have the journey to Mikumi National Park, approx five hours. On arrival, you will rest at the camp for few hours before we go to visit a Masai boma for two hours. Then head back to the camp/lodge for dinner and overnight stay.
After breakfast, we start a full day game drive to spot animals in Mikumi National Park on the plains where you have the ability to spot plenty of animals. Mikumi is home to lion, elephant, buffalo, impala, zebra and much more. Have lunch at the picnic campsite then later head back to the lodge/camp for dinner and overnight stay.
You will be picked up in the morning for the drive from Mikumi National Park to Selous Game Reserve, Immediately after reaching Selous Game Reserve, you will enjoy a boat safari on the Rufiji River where you may see the aquatic animals – crocodile, hippo and different species of birds.

Today you will be taken early in the morning for a full day game drive after breakfast. Enjoy your lunch box and relax for an hour at the picnic campsite that your guide chooses for lunch then continue with a game drive until the evening.

Early to the morning enjoy a coffee then start walking safari in the national park. Walking safaris with an armed guide is a fantastic way to learn about nature, spot small species and find out about the bush knowledge with bushman. The walking safaris take 2 hours and 30 minutes. After walking back to the lodge for breakfast, start your journey to Dar es Salaam Airport, ferry or hotel.
