This Sri Lanka safari features two of nature’s most magnificent creatures: the elephant and the blue whale. You will begin your whale search in Mirissa, home to one of the most successful whale watching tours in the world. You will spend an entire morning exploring the deep blue ocean for signs of the amazing life forms it harbors. Then in Tangalle you will have a night’s adventure watching turtles on Rekawa beach. Afterwards move on to Udawalwa, which is home to a national park with a world famous abundance of elephants and an elephant transit home that provides refuge to orphaned baby elephants. In addition to exploring amazing wildlife, you will also have the opportunity to witness many cultural attractions Sri Lanka has to offer during your stay.

Day by Day Overview
You will be welcomed at the airport by our representative and transferred to Mirissa- the perfect travel destination for those who love a generous dose of sun, sea and sand. This destination provides excellent accommodation and an endless amount of excursions – all on the golden sandy beaches. You can watch stilt fishermen, visit the rubber and coconut plantations in the area or wander through the ancient temples and spice gardens. The entire day is yours to explore the beauty of Mirissa.
Dinner and overnight stay at Hotel in Mirissa
After an early breakfast enjoy the ultimate experience in Mirissa – whale watching. Nature’s largest creature – the blue whale – and many other awe-inspiring sea creatures can be seen in the waters of Mirissa. Witnessing large colonies of this incredibly rare species and others such as dolphins and sperm whales all in one location is truly a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. After an exciting morning, you can return to your hotel and relax and unwind for the day.

Your third day in Sri Lanka will include a visit to Tangalle where you will check in to your hotel and prepare for an exciting night. The highlight of this day is sure to be the turtle sightings. Five of the seven species of marine turtles visit a few shores in Sri Lanka – among which Rekawa is the most important. The in-situ conservation that takes place on this shore ensures that you get to see turtles and their eggs in a perfectly natural habitat. Even if you miss the opportunity to see turtles you are sure to have a memorable night’s adventure at the beautiful beach.

The next day you will make your way from Tangalle to Udawalawa. Your first stop will be the elephant transit home in Udawalwa that provides refuge to orphaned elephants. You will be able to witness a large group of elephants who are all under the age of 5 making their way to drink milk and showing truly heartwarming and playful behavior. Following this, you will check-in at a hotel in Udawalawa and prepare for a late afternoon safari in Udawalawa National Park, which extends across a large area, home to over 600 elephants including tuskers. It is the country’s main destination to see this magnificent creature year-round. In addition to elephants, you can also witness spotted deer, crocodiles, leopards, sloth bears, an array of birds and reptiles. You will retire to the hotel after the safari for your final night in Sri Lanka.
