Tour Overview
This safari draws on years of experience to help you enjoy the ultimate Tanzania safari, witnessing the wildebeest migration crossing the Mara River. Our team made this trip for people with a very limited budget but are in love with nature and want to witness this remarkable natural spectacle This tour is very flexible and is targeted to witness the wildebeest migration, which is determined by the weather and time of year. Available from June to early December, the ultimate time to travel on this safari is July to October. We can organise a cheaper option by changing the two nights in the Serengeti from tented camps to budget camping style.

Day by Day Overview
After breakfast, you will make your way from Arusha in a northwesterly direction with your driver guide to Serengeti National Park. Head up the winding, switch-back road and into the Ngorongoro Highlands continuing to the Seronera area in the northern Serengeti National Park. Enjoy an afternoon game drive in the endless plains of Serengeti National Park then at sunset, you head to Into Wild Tented Camp for dinner and overnight. After dinner you will gather around the campfire before relaxing in your comfortable surroundings, lulled to sleep by the sounds of the Serengeti Plains.
Dinner and overnight: Into Wild Tented Camp
After breakfast you will embark on another full-day game drive in the Serengeti National Park. You will try to follow migration groups around the Mara River area. Some of the wildebeest groups don’t cross the river and you might catch them around the river. This will depend much on the unpredictable weather. For two nights you stay at a mobile bush camp in the Mara River area, which moves seasonally in time with the movement of the migration.
Dinner and overnight: Tanzania Bush Camps Mara River
After breakfast you will enjoy a wildebeest migration game drive in the north Serengeti park area. This includes the crossing of the wildebeest at the Mara River. The wildebeest migrate in groups and gather around Kogatende in the north Serengeti park area before they cross the river on their way to Masai Mara National Reserve in Kenya. Return to camp for dinner and your overnight stay.
Dinner and overnight: Tanzania Bush Camps Mara River
After an early breakfast, you go out for a sunrise game drive. You will stop for an early lunch and then depart for the Ngorongoro Crater rim with a game drive along the way. You will check in at the Ngorongoro Rhino Lodge on the crater rim, enjoy dinner and settle in for your overnight stay.
Optional: You have the opportunity to visit the Olduvai Gorge Museum (extra USD 35 per person) and/or the Maasai village (Boma) (extra USD 20 for a group).
Dinner and overnight: Ngorongoro Rhino Lodge
You will rise early for breakfast, check-out of the lodge and head to the Ngorongoro Crater. The area is world-renowned in its reputation and remains one of the only places on earth where you may see all of the Big Five. To maximize your time on the crater floor, you will enjoy a special boxed lunch at a scenic picnic spot. Your journey will take you throughout this tremendous landscape that is constantly changing as animals move in search of pasture, water and prey. In the evening, you will ascend to the rim and drive back to Kilimanjaro airport (JRO).
