After breakfast, depart Kampala or Entebbe and head to Kibale Forest National Park via Mityana and Mubende towns which takes about 6-7 hours. At Fort Portal town you will have a lunch break then proceed to the lodge. Along the drive you will see lots of farms and large tea estates which are photo worthy so don’t hesitate to stop your driver to take beautiful photos.
After an early breakfast, leave for Kibale Chimpanzee tracking by 7.30 am, heading to Kanyanchu Visitor Center for the tracking briefing. Usually the morning tracking is from 8 am-12 pm. Entering the forest, your guide will lead you on the search for chimpanzee.
Return to the lodge for lunch and then at 2 pm enjoy a guided nature walk in Bigodi Wetlands Sanctuary, a fascinating place where you’ll have an expert guide with you to explain about the vegetation, trees, flowers and plants. As well as different monkeys like black and white colobus, grey cheeked mangabeys, red tailed monkeys and many others that regularly feed there and numerous birds such as great blue turaco, brown parrot and many others.
Today you drive to Bwindi Impenetrable Forest, passing through Ishasha region of Queen Elizabeth National Park, where you go on a game drive to search for the tree climbing lion of Ishasha and have a quick lunch stop. Later on continue to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, check in to your lodge and relax ready for the next day.
In the morning, after breakfast, join your guide at the briefing centre before 8 am. Carry your light rain jacket and wear hiking boots. As you enter the forest, get a walking stick and use a porter to carry your things (this is not included in the price). Usually the Gorilla Trek takes about 3-7 hours depending on the family group assigned to track, due to the gorillas moving daily.
This is an all day drive including a break for lunch and a stop at the Equator.
