Day by Day Overview
The group will assemble at our departure point at 0830 hrs for orientation then depart the city for the Masai Mara National Reserve. We will stop along the way at the Great Rift Valley view point and Narok town for a hot lunch before continuing to the Mara region to start the afternoon game viewing.
Dinner and overnight at camp
After an early breakfast set off game viewing in this panoramic savannah grassland. Enjoy a picnic lunch by the Mara river and return back to camp later for dinner. Those who wish to visit the local villages can walk with the Masai warriors.
The Masai Mara National Reserve is Kenya’s finest wildlife sanctuary. Including migrants, well over 450 species of animals have been recorded here. The Mara plains are filled with wildebeest and zebra as they follow the rain north during the annual migration as well as resident wildlife year round. The Mara’s gentle fertile climate bounded by The Rift, offers perhaps the richest stocked reserve set within some 1672 sq kms, with an unlimited spectacle of wildlife. Located 268 kms west of Nairobi, the emphasis here is on game; herds of immense elephants browse among lion, buffalo, Thompson’s gazelle, zebra and topi; you may occasionally sight a rhino or leopard while in the Mara River hippos play and crocodiles bask on the banks.
Dinner and overnight at camp
The group will enjoy a sunrise game drive returning to the camp for breakfast before the drive to Lake Nakuru with a hot lunch on the way. Arrive at the hotel and relax here for the rest of the day.
Lake Nakuru National Park is where you will have a chance to visit a unique sanctuary catering for a sizeable number of endangered rhinoceros and Rothschild giraffe. Waterbuck as well as predators such as lion and leopard are common at the park as well as a myriad of bird life in and around the lake including many flamingoes.
Dinner and overnight at hotel
The group will enjoy breakfast at the hotel then proceed for a game drive in Lake Nakuru National Park until lunch time. Afterwards drive to Taphe guest house in Naivasha town. The group can decide to do a boat ride on the lake, which normally takes about one hour followed by a walk along the lake. Lake Naivasha is one of the fresh water lakes in the Rift Valley with agriculture and rose growers along the lake.
Dinner and overnight at guesthouse
The final day of the safari is a walk in Hell’s Gate National Park, the only national park where you can walk. Then have lunch and return back to Nairobi.
Hell’s Gate National Park is a remarkable quarter of the Great Rift Valley. With spectacular scenery including towering cliffs, water-gouged gorges, stark rock towers, scrub clad volcanoes and belching plumes of geothermal steam it’s one of the most atmospheric parks in Africa. In addition to the bio-diversity, including raptors, visitors can enjoy mountain biking, rock climbing and a natural spa.
