From USD 1,250 per person
Meet and greet at Kilimanjaro airport, transfer to Arusha for overnight.
After breakfast, you will be picked up from your hotel at 8:00 am for the drive to Lake Manyara National Park. Spend 6 hours exploring Lake Manyara National Park, with its spectacular back drop of the rust-hued Great Rift Valley. Lake Manyara has a large number of elephants, giraffes, zebras, wildebeest, impalas, waterbucks, warthogs, shy Kik’s dik diks as well as klipspringers along the ramps of the escarpment. Leopards live within the broken forests and escarpment and the lions here are known for their tree climbing prowess, which used to be a special character of the park but is less so today. Regarded as Africa’s largest, huge herds of baboons are expected to be seen by most visitors.
After a leisurely breakfast, depart for Serengeti National Park, via the beautiful high lying farmland of Karatu and the Ngorongoro Conservation Area. Leaving the highlands behind, we descend into the heart of wild Africa – the Serengeti National Park – with its endless plains, rolling into the distance as far as the eye can see. Head to the central park area, known as Seronera, one of the richest wildlife habitats in the park, featuring the Seronera River, which provides a valuable water source to this area and attracts wildlife well representative of most of the Serengeti’s species. Arrive in time for lunch and enjoy an afternoon game drive in the Serengeti National Park. Dinner and overnight at Serengeti Seronera.
Enjoy a full day game viewing in the midst of Serengeti National Park. The Serengeti eco-system is home to the ‘big five’ (lion, elephant, cape buffalo, leopard, rhinoceros) as well as other species such as zebra, wildebeest, various gazelles and antelopes, giraffes, cheetahs, hyenas, hippopotamus, crocodiles and some primate species such as vervet monkeys and olive baboons. It is also an endemic bird area, with a total of 505 species being documented so far.
The exciting sounds of Africa will rouse you from your sleep. We make the most of the day with a 08:00 am start, heading off on our morning game-drive. Later, the adventure will continue when we travel to Ngorongoro Crater, another African icon. It’s almost impossible to spend too much time in the Serengeti and with more than 1.6 million herbivores – plus thousands of predators – there’s always something new and interesting to see. The changing seasons and natural light simply add to the diversity. This morning your driver-guide will help you spot some more of the many species at Serengeti, teaching you about their fascinating habits and habitats. Later enjoy a game drive en route to the Ngorongoro Conservation Area where you have dinner and stay overnight.
Early in the morning, we depart the lodge and drive down to the crater floor for wildlife game viewing. With its abundant water, excellent grazing and natural protection from the densely vegetated crater walls, the crater provides shelter to over 25,000 animals, including the endangered black rhinoceros. Lunch will be taken in a picnic site inside the crater before the drive back to Arusha.
