After breakfast, your driver/guide will be ready at your hotel to pick you up for the journey to Tarangire National Park. The park has beautiful landscapes including plains known as ‘Small Serengeti’, the Tarangire River which acts as a magnet for animals during the dry season. Its natural vegetation mainly consists of acacia woodland and giant African baobab trees, with huge swamp areas in the south. The Tarangire National Park is reputed to contain some of the largest elephant herds in Africa. The park is also home to three rare species – the greater kudu, the fringed-eared oryx and the ashy starling. The park also offers large numbers of buffaloes, zebras, wildebeest, giraffes, lions, cheetahs, leopards, impalas, gazelles, warthogs, and wild dogs which are occasional seen. The park is also enriched with birds and has more than 400 species. We will stop at picnic site for lunch and continue with game drives until the evening when we drive to the camp for overnight.
After breakfast we exit Tarangire and head towards the Serengeti National Park, via the beautiful high lying farmland of Karatu and the Ngorongoro Conservation Area. Leaving the highlands behind, we descend into the heart of wild Africa – the Serengeti National Park – with its endless plains, rolling into the distance as far as the eye can see. We head to the central park area, known as the Seronera area, one of the richest wildlife habitats in the park, featuring the Seronera River, which provides a valuable water source to this area and therefore attracts wildlife well representative of most of the Serengeti’s species. We arrive in time for lunch and enjoy an afternoon game drive in the Serengeti national park.
After breakfast we continue with a game drive until lunch time. Afterwards we head to Ngorongoro Crater for overnight. On the way we can see the Maasai traditional life and experience a little bit of how these cultural people live in the Ngorongoro Conservation Area.
After an early breakfast we will descend over 600 meters into the crater for a half day game drive. Supported by a year-round water supply and fodder, the Ngorongoro Conservation Area supports a vast variety of animals, which include herds of wildebeest, zebra, buffalo, eland, warthog, hippo, and giant African elephants. Another big draw card to this picturesque crater is the dense population of predators, which include lions, hyenas, jackals, cheetahs, and the ever-elusive leopard, which sometimes requires a trained eye to spot. This is only the place you can see easily black Rhino than any other park. We will visit Lake Magadi, a large but shallow alkaline lake in the southwestern corner, which is one of the main features of the crater and is home to flamingos and hippos. Apart from animals, the park has the most wonderful landscape and is very beautiful. We will have lunch in the picnic site and afterwards in the afternoon, we depart for the drive back to Arusha.
