Day by Day Overview
After breakfast, your driver-guide will collect you in Arusha and your safari will commence. From Arusha drive to Tarangire National Park, which takes approximately 3 hours. The name of the park originates from the Tarangire River which crosses through the park and is the only source of water for wild animals during the dry season. Tarangire, covering an area of approximately 2,850 sq km, is famous for its huge number of elephants, baobab trees and tree climbing African pythons. You will enjoy a day of game viewing, with a picnic lunch looking out over the river to break up the time in the car. Before it gets dark you will drive to the lodge or campsite for dinner and overnight stay.
Drive to Serengeti National Park via Olduvai Gorge, which takes about 3 to 4 hours. Olduvai George is an archaeological site located in the eastern Serengeti Plains where early human fossils were first discovered. It has amazing landscapes that resulted from the tectonic forces which created the Great Rift Valley millions of years ago. Then in the late evening, after game drives in the Serengeti, head Serengeti Wild Camp for overnight stay (full board).
After breakfast, drive to Ngorongoro Crater, where you enjoy a half day game drive inside the crater. This is undoubtedly the best place to see black rhino in Tanzania as well as the prides of lion that includes the magnificent black maned males. There are lots of colourful flamingos and variety of water birds. Other game such as leopard, cheetah, hyena and lots of other members of the antelope family and small mammals of all sorts can also be seen here. In the late afternoon drive to Moshi hotel for bed and breakfast.
Enjoy another half day game drive inside the Ngorongoro Crater. In the late afternoon drive back to Arusha or Moshi.
