Day by Day Overview
Very early in the morning (6:00am) after having your breakfast, you will be briefed by our EBS Tours and Safaris guide about the journey and then transfer to the gorilla highlands, Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park. The journey takes about 10-12 hours driving through the scenic western countryside of the ‘Pearl of Africa’. Arrive in the evening and check-in at your lodge, have dinner and overnight.
Accommodation: Broadbill Forest Camp
Today is the highlight of this safari! You wake up very early and have your breakfast at 6:30am. Afterwards your driver guide will take you to the park headquarters for a briefing about the do’s and don’ts about gorilla trekking. The trek takes about 2-8 hours through the impenetrable forest of Bwindi to look for these gentle giants in their natural habitat. After finding them you are allowed a full hour of interacting with them, watching them and enjoying this remarkable experience. Your advised to carry rain jackets because of the rain forest you walk through, carry long sleeved clothes too if possible and don’t forget a minimum of 2 liters drinking water.
After you will return at the lodge for lunch and relaxation. In the evening you will visit the Batwa community and learn about their local ways of surviving. These are the people who used to live in the forest with apes before it was conserved as a protected area, so you will learn about how they used to live with wildlife. Afterwards return to the lodge for dinner and overnight.
Accommodation: Broadbill Forest Camp
Very early after breakfast (7:00am) you will transfer back to Entebbe with a stop at the Equator for lunch, taking some pictures and buying some souvenirs if you choose. Continue with your journey back to Entebbe.
