Mikumi National Park is Tanzania’s fourth-biggest national park at 3260 sq kms, situated between the Uluguru Mountains and the Lumango mountain ranges. It's the most accessible from Dar es Salaam - about 300kms - and with great wildlife sightings, it makes a perfect safari spot for those who are busy and have less time to travel. This short trip to Mikumi National Park for wildlife viewing plus a Maasai village tour will give you a chance to experience this region's people, culture, fauna and flora of the natural areas.

After breakfast at 06:00 am, you’ll be picked up where you are staying for the drive to Mikumi National Park, about 289 km, approx. 4-5 hours via Morogoro for lunch. Arrive at Mikumi National Park, which covers more than 3260 sq kms and is famous for groups of elephants, buffalos, giraffes, impalas, wildebeests, zebras and predators such as lions, jackals, hyenas and leopards. In addition, more than 400 species of birds have been recorded in this park. Proceed with a game drive to Mwanambogo dam where many animals drift for a drink.

After breakfast at 06:00 am set off for full day game drive (sunrise to sunset) with a packed lunch which you enjoy at a designated picnic spot (with toilet and running water. Today you have a great opportunity to view plenty of animals and birds including hippo and crocodiles.

After breakfast at 06:00 am, you visit the Maasai Boma for a Maasai village tour. Meet with the Chief/Leader who will welcome you, then a Maasai guide will explain their life style, traditions and customs, you can see typical Maasai handcrafts and dancing and hear about the past and today’s life in the village. The Maasai villages are near Mikumi National Park boundaries. The option afterwards is to either head back to camp for ashort rest or drive straight back to Dar es salaam via Morogoro town for hot lunch.
