Experience the enthralling adventure of gorilla trekking in Uganda's Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park. The forest protects an estimated number of 400 mountain gorillas, roughly half of the world’s population, including several habituated groups that can be tracked. There are a further 120 mammals, including several primate species such as baboons and chimpanzees as well as elephants and antelope, as well as around 400 species of birds including 23 Albertine Rift endemics.

You will be picked by one of our guides from your hotel after an early morning breakfast and embark on your journey to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, which lies in southwestern Uganda on the edge of the Rift Valley. En route visit the royal drum making village to meet and interact with the drum makers, then stopover at the Equator line to take some photos. Afterwards head to Mbarara town for lunch and later proceed to Bwindi, arriving late in the afternoon. Bwindi Impenetrable National Park. Check in at the lodge and relax before dinner.
Accommodation: Gorilla Mist Camp
After an early breakfast, drive to the park headquarters for a briefing by the park rangers about gorilla trekking. You will be divided into groups of eight individuals. After this start trekking one of the most endangered animal species, guided by the rangers. You will spend about one hour with them, taking photos, watching them feed, play around and do their day to day activities. Depending on the location and the movement of the gorillas, this activity can take anything from two to eight hours. Expect to walk long distances with walking sticks due to the muddy and steep landscape. Later, return to the lodge for lunch and a power nap. In the evening you may decide to visit the Batwa community, the native culture in the forest, where you will be exposed to their culture; dance, lifestyle, storytelling and more which is an amazing and unique experience. Return to the lodge for dinner and overnight.

Have an early breakfast, check-out of the lodge and embark on your journey back to Kampala. Lunch will be in Mbarara town on the way as well as a stop over at Igongo cultural center to visit the historical eclipse monument. Continue to Kampala or Entebbe where you will be dropped off at your hotel or the airport.
