Your driver guide will pick you from your hotel after breakfast and you will depart for Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park, home of mountain gorillas. Expect a stopover at the equator, an imaginary line that separates the south from the north pole at 0° Latitude and the sun rises and sets at a shorter interval than it does in other places on the planet. It is one of Uganda’s most well-known sights; many visitors travel from all over the world to experience the lighter-weight effect and other benefits. Later continue to Mbarara where you will have a lunch stop. This is a 6-7 hour journey and it goes through beautiful rolling hills of Kigezi. By evening arrive at Broadbill Forest Camp for dinner and overnight.
Wake up and prepare for today’s incredible experience. Have breakfast and transfer to the park headquarters (with packed lunch) for a briefing on how to behave while with the gorillas. Tracking time ranges between 2-9 hours depending on their movement. Tracking goes through steep rocks, climbing up and down through slippery and muddy jungle grounds. When you find them you will stay with them for one hour for observation and photography. Later you will go to your lodge for a rest.
In the afternoon after freshening up and resting, you will be taken for a Batwa community walk. You will visit Batwa homesteads, schools and much more. The Batwa people were chased from the forest when the park became a World Heritage Site. After this, their lifestyle changed because they were not used to life outside the forest; they depended on forest resources for survival. They fed on honey and hunting in the forest, using spear and arrows for meat gathering and eating fruit. They used shrubs as medicine, trees for building nests etc. Batwa lived in peace in the forest with the endangered primates, mammals and many more. After visiting them you will go back to the lodge for dinner and overnight.
Have breakfast and hit the road back to Kampala with scenic viewing en route. Lunch in Mbarara and arrive at Entebbe or Kampala by evening.
