You will be met in Kigali by your guide and begin your journey over the border into Uganda, headed for the Bwindi Impenetrable National Park. The lush forest is home to half of the worlds mountain gorilla population and affords visitors the best chance to see these amazing creatures. In addition to the gentle giants, there are numerous other primate species that inhabit the park, offering spectacular sightings of the lessor known apes. Upon arrival at your lodge, you will have the chance to freshen up, relax and enjoy some dinner before your true adventure begins in the morning.
Enjoy with an energising breakfast before heading to the rangers station for registration and a briefing. You will then set off on your gorilla tracking experience, making your way deep into the forest, through the undergrowth and navigating the wet mountain passes until you close in on one of the habituated family groups. The tracking can take up to 7 hours depending on where the apes are, making the experience all the more rewarding when you finally discover where they are. You will get the chance to sit with the gorillas for an hour in their natural habitat, able to observe their behaviour and interactions with one another. A truly unforgettable experience. Later you will make your way back to your lodge and depending on the time, you will have the chance to visit one of the local Batwa communities for a village walk and cultural learning experience.
Today you will depart Uganda and the Bwindi Impenetrable Forest as you make your way back to Kigali. Depending on the time and your travel plans, you can enjoy an optional Kigali city tour and visit the Genocide Museum. Thereafter you will be taken to your hotel or the airport, marking the end of your trip.
