Day by Day Overview
Today starts with your driver guide picking you up from the airport or your hotel in Kigali and embarking on an exciting drive to extreme south western Uganda. A stopover for lunch will be made en route. The dense rainforest of Bwindi Impenetrable Forest, famous for its gorilla population, is one of the most fertile and rich in the world, being home to a variety of primates, plants and topical birds. On arrival, you will have a visit to Batwa pygmy’s community for a culture visit, Dinner and overnight stay at a lodge amidst the forests and verdant hills of Bwindi as you wait for the next day’s adventure.
Early morning breakfast and proceed to the briefing point ready to start the highlight of your trip – gorilla trekking. The trek may last from 2 to 6 hours depending on the gorilla group you are visiting. Trek through the rainforest and bamboo covered slopes, accompanied by a Uganda Wildlife Authority guide and other trackers, in search of a mountain gorilla family. The walking can sometimes be tough and long, but when you catch a glimpse of a magnificent silverback any discomforts will be quickly forgotten. Due to the nature of the activity, you will have packed lunch. After gorilla trekking, you will drive through the terraced hills to Kigali city where your driver will drop you off at the airport.
