Day by Day Overview

Depart early from Arusha town at around 07.30 – 08.00 hrs. You will drive across a beautiful and scenic Masai Steppe to Makuyuni junction and then along the Arusha – Dodoma Highway towards Tarangire National Park, a drive that will take only 2 hours at most.  Arrive at the park gate at Tarangire and after your driver has sorted out the paperwork you start game drives almost straight away from the gate in a bid to see as many animals and birds a possible.

Your professional safari guide will take you to the best wildlife spotting areas of the park including the Tarangire River, a permanent river which works as a bloodline for the park ensuring animals flock the river banks in search for water throughout the year. You expect to see elephants, elands, wildebeests, buffaloes, zebras, gerenuks, giraffes and a lot of birds. Lunch will be taken at one of the picnic sites. Later in the afternoon you will drive out of the park and your guide will take you to Karatu in the Ngorongoro Highlands for dinner and overnight at campsite.

Overnight at Twiga Campsite at Mto-wa-mbu or similar campsite

After breakfast, your 2-day Tanzania Camping safari will continue as we take you to the Ngorongoro Crater. You will start by driving to the gate for check in and then drive up to the crater rim, stopping for some nice views and pictures at the crater view point before ascending 600 meters steep to the crater floor for wonderful game viewing. The unfolded caldera is sometimes referred as the ‘8th Wonder of the World’ and is home to a large number of animal species. Year-round adequate water supply and food in the crater supports a large number of wildlife including herds of wildebeest, buffalo, African elephant, zebra, eland, hippos, gazelle and the rare black rhino.

Ngorongoro Crater is also home to a dense population of predators such as lion, leopard, cheetah, hyena and jackal while birds are abundant including flocks of flamingos at Lake Magadi, pelican, ibis, ostrich, goose and many others. A packed lunch will be served at the crater floor. Late afternoon drive out and back to Arusha where your safari ends.
