Today you will meet your tour guide in Arusha who will take you to Lake Manyara after a short introductory safari briefing. You will arrive in time for lunch at your lodge and then head into the park for a game drive. This impressive reserve is one of Tanzania’s most dramatically located and diverse wildlife areas, consisting of a massive but shallow soda lake, covering two-thirds of the park at the foot of the Great Rift Valley’s western escarpment. The park’s varied habitat attracts a wide variety of animals, including one of Africa’s largest concentrations of elephants, Manyara’s famous tree-climbing lions, as well as large flocks of flamingos attracted by the algae in the lake. After some great wildlife sightings, you will head back to your lodge for dinner and a good nights rest.
After breakfast, you will make your way to the Ngorongoro Conservation Area and descend 600m into the massive crater for a half-day game drive. The Ngorongoro Crater is one of the most densely populated wildlife havens in the world and is home to an estimated 30,000 animals including some of Tanzania’s last remaining black rhino. Supported by a year round water supply, the park is able to support huge animal numbers and the natural enclosure created by the crater rim walls fosters the growth of the populations. You will enjoy a picnic lunch in the crater, after some magnificent wildlife viewing and then travel back to Arusha, marking the end of your trip. You will be taken to your hotel or the airport, depending on your further travel plans.
