Located on Uganda's Lake Victoria, a distance which takes about 50 mins in a speed boat from Entebbe, Ngamba Island Chimpanzee Sanctuary was started in 1998. The major purpose of this sanctuary is to keep and care for the rescued chimpanzees, most of which are orphans that were rescued from poachers and wild encroachers as well as four chimpanzees which were born in the sanctuary. The sanctuary is surrounded by fresh waters of Lake Victoria and it currently homes 50 chimpanzees of which 30 of them are females and 20 are males.

This trip will start with an early pick up by our professional guide who will transfer you to Entebbe for your boat safari to Ngamba Island. You will board the early speed boat that will take you across Lake Victoria, while watching the fishermen as they are fishing, plus different bird species.
On your arrival at Ngamba sanctuary, you will be briefed about the history of the island and information about the sanctuary. You will then head into the sanctuary to view the chimpanzees from a closer range. You will be able to see different chimpanzee behavior and watch them eat. After watching the chimpanzees for a few hours, you will go to the nearest restaurant for lunch and refreshments. In the evening, you will walk to the lake shores for sunset bathing to enjoy the calm and fresh water breeze while watching different bird species.
You will start your day with breakfast at your time of convenience and get ready to board the speed boat at 11 am to take you back to Nakyogo in Entebbe. During the boat ride, you will see many bird species on the lake plus the local fishermen. On your arrival at Nakyogo, you will have a chance of picking a fresh fish which has just been removed from the waters, which will be fried immediately for your lunch. After enjoying this amazing feast, you will be taken to your next accommodation or to the airport for your next flight and that will mark the end of our services.
