Later you will head out for your first game drive and be able to experience the vast number of animals that roam the plains. The Mara river that provides an abundance of water to support the huge herds is also the place where the most dramatic wildlife scenes take place during the great wildebeest migration’s river crossing. Today you will be able to go on a guided walking safari, allowing you to get close to nature and experience seeing some of the wild game while on foot. Later you will make your way to your camp for the evening.

The reserve is home to the great migration that sees millions of wildebeest, zebra and gazelles cross the Mara River every year in search of greener pastures. Search for the herds and find yourself surrounded by an astounding number of animals, revealing the sheer size of this natural spectacle. The herds support large predator populations including huge golden-maned lions that roam the park and blend into the yellow grass, also an amazing sight. After a full day of adventure, return to your camp for the evening.

The park is home to the entire big five, which you could see while in the crater if you are lucky. The reserve also has a huge predator population, supported by the large herds of plains game that inhabit the park. Visit Lake Magadi, a large but shallow alkaline lake in the southwestern corner of the crater and see the large number of flamingos and various other water birds that flock to the lake. Enjoy some lunch while watching the many hippos in the lake. Later you will continue your drive and search for various other animals on the fertile plains of the crater floor, while keeping an eye out for the rare black rhino.
