Day by Day Overview
You will be picked up by one of our representatives at the airport and taken to your hotel. Spend the rest of the day relaxing and preparing for the start of your safari. If you arrive in the morning or early afternoon, you will have the option of going on a city tour where you will visit the various sites around the capital.
Depart after breakfast and drive to the lush foothills of the Aberdare Mountain Range. Arrive in time for lunch at the farmhouse and later enjoy a drive to the nearby Solio Ranch for an afternoon of game viewing. The reserve is known for its relatively large numbers of the endangered black rhino. Return to your lodge in the evening for some dinner.
In the morning you will drive further north to the Samburu National Reserve, the traditional homelands of the colourful Samburu people. The park offers beautiful views of the rugged hills and vast plains with a mix of wooded grasslands and forest swampland that is home to a wide variety of animal and bird life. Lunch will be served at the Lodge, followed by an afternoon game drive until sunset.
Spend a full day in the reserve as you search for the many animals you have come to see. The bird life is superb with over 380 recorded species and game which includes all the usual African animals as well as oryx, gerenuk and the Somali ostrich. Visit the Ewaso Ng’iro River that feeds the Lorian Swamp and sustains a large portion of the animals in the park. Later head back to camp for the evening.
After breakfast and a morning drive you will make your way to the Ol Pejeta Conservancy, a beautiful private game reserve that is home to a number or rares animals including the Beisa oryx, Rothschild’s giraffe and black rhino. Game drives in this beautiful park offer amazing sightings of all of the above including Africa’s big cats. You will also have the opportunity to visit the Jane Goodall Institute for an opportunity to see the chimpanzees at the Sweetwaters Chimpanzee Sanctuary. Other optional activities include birding walks as well as horseback safari and camel rides.
After breakfast you will head to Lake Naivasha National Park, set in the foothills of Mount Longonot. The lake is also known for being the first destination in east Africa where the Imperial Airways first landed their water-planes. After arriving at the lodge you will have some lunch and enjoy a guided walk along the shores of the lake. Later you can take a boat ride and a visit to Crescent Island for a chance to explore it on a walking safari.
In the morning you will travel to the famous Masai Mara National Reserve, home to the greatest concentration of large mammals and widely recognized as Africa’s ultimate wildlife reserve. The park is famous for its annual migration of wildebeest and zebra. Head to the lodge with a en-route game drive and enjoy a delicious lunch upon your arrival. Later in the evening you can enjoy some game viewing as you explore the never ending plains. Head back to your camp in the evening.
Enjoy a full day of game drives in this amazing park and explore as much of it as you can. There are more then 450 bird species that have been recorded, with 57 of them being birds of prey. You will also get the chance to visit a Maasai village for a chance to learn about their culture and experience some traditional singing and dancing. You also have the option of exploring the park from the air on a hot air balloon safari.
Enjoy a final early morning game drive in the park before returning to your camp for breakfast. You will then head back to Nairobi for the evening. On the journey you will be able to enjoy spectacular views of the Great Rift Valley escarpment from the valley floor with Mount Longonot and Suswa dominating the landscapes. Arrive in Nairobi in time for lunch at a local restaurant before settling in for the night.
After an early breakfast you will drive south of Nairobi to Amboseli National Park. The Park is famous for its big game and scenic beauty with amazing views of Mount Kilimanjaro. The park offers an interesting contrast with dry and dusty areas caused by the last eruption and beautiful lush areas created by the underground water resulting from the melting snow on the mountain’s peak.
Spend a full day in the park on morning and afternoon game drives. Search for the multitude of wildlife species including the huge bull elephants with their massive tusks that roam this spectacular park. There are also over 400 species of birds, including the bee-eater and the African fish eagle. Explore the reserve while enjoying excellent views of Mount Kilimanjaro and Mount Meru.
Enjoy some breakfast before heading back to Nairobi with a drive across the open plains of Amboseli and Athi. Later head to the airport to catch your flight.
