Day by Day Overview

You’ll be picked up from the airport or your hotel this morning by our team. After a short orientation, you will head to Tsavo West National Park. This side of the park has the most beautiful scenic views you don’t want to miss, such as the Chaimu volcanic crater, Poacher’s Lookout, roaring rocks, and many other points. Tsavo West is the most visited section in Tsavo National Park, offering many other attractions apart from its wildlife. The foremost is the famous Mzima Springs, where up to 227.3 million litres of cool, crystal-clear water flow out of the ground through the openings in the volcanic rocks. The water is believed to originate from Chyulu Hills, via an underground river. Dinner and overnight stay at Ngulia Safari Lodge.

After breakfast, you will drive to Amboseli National Park. On your way to Amboseli, there are the spectacular Shetani lava flows (Shetani means ‘devil’ in Kiswahili). The flows were formed only a few hundred years ago, and local people believed that it was the devil himself emerging from the earth. This vast expanse of folded black lava spreads for 50 sq. km across the savannah near the Chylus Hills, looking strangely as if Vesuvius dropped its comfort blanket here.

You will arrive in Amboseli at a good time for hot lunch. Relax for a while at your lodge, then head to an afternoon game drive at around 4:00pm. Amboseli National Park is famous for its scenery with a backdrop of snowcapped Mount Kilimanjaro, which is the second largest mountain in the world. It dominates the landscape and open plains. Despite its changing habitat, Amboseli National Park is possibly the best wildlife area in the whole of Africa to experience elephants at close range. Left unharassed by humans, elephants feeding and bathing in the swamps must form the highlights of any safari. Dinner and overnight stay at Kibo Safari Camp.
