Day by Day Overview

This morning, you will meet your photographic guides in Nairobi and depart by road through the scenic Athi Plains and into the bush country of Amboseli nestled in the foothills of Mount Kilimanjaro. Arriving in time for lunch at Ol Tukai Lodge or Serena Lodge. Both lodges offer a panoramic landscape, sky and wildlife with the massive majesty of snow capped Kilimanjaro in the distance. The lodges are camouflaged in a forest of fever trees and palms.

Amboseli is big game country, home to elephants, antelope, zebras, wildebeest, buffalo and giraffe. Two game drives are planned today; both will introduce you to the intense beauty and drama that fills each day. Predators stalk the herds of grazing animals recreating the age-old drama of life and death under the African sun in a setting so lushly beautiful for photography.

Rising early for good views of Mount Kilimanjaro before clouds build up over the summit, we set off for another stimulating photographic safari game drive. Amboseli is an excellent place to view a multitude of wildlife, everything from wildebeest and giraffes to baboons. Optional visit to a Masai village is planned after breakfast. Masai warriors are famously known as the proud nomadic tribe whose legendary prowess in battle and single-handed acts of bravery in fights with the wild animals are known across the world. A visit reveals the singing and dancing that are part of their daily lives and sacred rituals. A glimpse into their homes and social structure is a poignant experience. Midday finds us at our lodge for lunch and afternoon rest, followed by another extensive photographic guided game drive.

Your destination today is the exotic Sweetwaters Tented Camp in the secluded heart of Ol Pejeta. The tents overlook one of the busiest waterholes with elephants, giraffes and a plethora of plains game visiting.
