Day by Day Overview
You depart from Lusaka early and head out to the northern territory of the Kafue National Park. The drive shall take approximately 6.5 hours. Upon arrival, camp will be built and we will arrange a boat cruise for you on the Kafue River.
Overnight: Kafue River Lodge
The following day, you will be awoken early, around 05.30 for tea, coffee and toast. You will then embark on the morning game drive which will last for around 3 – 4 hours. Brunch will be served in the late morning. There will then be some hours to relax in camp, before high tea is prepared for 15.30. Following high tea, you will then go on an evening game drive, to look for nocturnal species. Dinner will be served back at camp. The last day shall run in the same program as before but you will likely explore a different region, depending on sightings.
Overnight: Kafue River Lodge
There are no campsites around or near Busanga, so we shall have to camp in the Game Management Area, to the north east of the Plains. We will head up here for one night, then pack up camp and do a full day game drive through Busanga Plains, which will wind up in Moshi Campsite, to the South of Busanga. Depending on availability, we may stop by Kasonso camp for lunch and refreshments during this day on the plains.
If you would like to return to Busanga to do a full day game drive, this is possible. If not then we can do two local drives in the Mozhi region on this day. The local area is very pretty and can be very productive for sightings.
After breakfast, we shall begin packing down camp and start our journey south to Kaingu. It shall be a beautiful drive through the park and you may well chance some good sightings along the way. You will likely arrive in the mid to late afternoon, with plenty of time to settle in before sundown.
On the first morning at Kaingu, we shall arrange for you to go on a boat cruise upstream. This is a stunning region of the park, much character in the river structure. You shall return to camp late morning, in time for a brunch. In the afternoon, we will book you onto a walking safari, to a stunning rock called Mamba. Mpamba, arguably has the best view in the Kafue, allowing you to see for many many miles above the endless canopy.
The next day, we will arrange a morning game drive for you, in the park hosted by one of the Kaingu guides. In the afternoon you can take a stroll down to the rapids with your private guide and have some down time in the beauty spot.
After breakfast and packing down, we shall begin heading south to Livingstone. Initially, we will have to skirt around the vast Lake Itezhi Tezhi, through the town. After that we will re enter the park. You will do a brief drive around the lake region, before heading on the spinal road which goes to Livingstone. Depending on how much time you spend in the park, you may expect to arrive in Livingstone around late afternoon.
This safari terminates in Livingstone. If, you would like us to assist you in booking accommodation there, please do say and we will gladly add it on to the itinerary and quote. The following day, our vehicle shall return to Lusaka. If, you would like to extend its time there, this can also easily be arranged. Should you wish to join the vehicle back to Lusaka, you may do so at no extra cost.
