In Uganda’s Lake Mburo National Park explore on game drives and superb boat cruise as well as have a wide range of optional activities to choose from such as horseback rides, walking safari, bicycle rides with a guided nature walk. Then head off on another amazing journey to the land of the rare mountain gorillas – Bwindi Impenetrable National Park. In addition to gorilla tracking you also have a couple of fun activities to try out like the Batwa Cultural Trail, community visits and canoe trip on scenic Lake Mulehe. Your safari ends in Rwanda with a Kigali city tour prior to departure.

Day by Day Overview

Upon arrival at Entebbe International Airport you will be received by a member of our team who will transfer you to your hotel in Kampala. Arrive at the hotel and enjoy the rest of the day at leisure while enjoying the cool breeze of Lake Victoria.

Early in the morning after breakfast you will be picked from your hotel in Kampala (or Entebbe) for the start off your journey to Lake Mburo National Park. On the way stop over at the Equator for a photo moment and some demonstrations by a specialized tour guide. Lake Mburo National Park, conveniently located close to the KampalaMbarara highway, is a wildlife gem in the middle of an extensive rich acacia woodland. The park is home to 332 bird species including the rare African fin foot, shoebill, papyrus gonolek, yellow warbler, saddle billed stork, brown chested wattle, plover among others. On arrival you will have lunch at your lodge and in the evening head out on a game drive.

Early in the morning after breakfast you will go for a game drive in the woodland acacia. Expect a variety of flora and fauna comprised of zebras, Rothschild giraffe, elephants, elands, warthogs, topis, kobs and with luck leopard. Spot some rare bird species mainly water and swamp birds like; papyrus gonolek, yellow warbler, saddle-billed stork, cisticola, white-winged warbler and many more. Proceed to the salt licks and get onto the viewing platform where you will be able to watch animals licking salt to supplement their diet. After your game drive return to your lodge and enjoy lunch.

In the afternoon go on a boat cruise and watch animals together with water birds as many come down the lake during the afternoon hours for water and cooling off. You might spot the African fin foot, kingfishers, fish eagle among others as well as reptiles such as crocodiles and some snakes. After your cruise you will have an opportunity to engage in some optional activities like a horseback ride or walking safari through the park where you will view more wildlife, including elands, zebras, buffaloes and more grazers.

Early in the morning, after breakfast and check out, enjoy your scenic drive through the rolling hills of Kabale and Rushenyi to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park. Upon arrival check into your lodge and spend the rest of the day at leisure or explore optional activities.

Mahogany Springs or similar

Early in the morning after breakfast, take part in the days main activity: Gorilla tracking in Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, home to over 346 bird species, 400 plant species, 202 butterfly species, 163 tree species and the most astonishing scenic views. Gorilla tracking is a captivating and unforgettable experience which gives you a chance visit one of the nine habituated gorilla families, but tracking can be challenging and one needs to be reasonably fit before venturing into the activity. The briefing starts at 08:00 am with the main activity starting at 08:30 am. It lasts for an hour or more depending on where the gorillas are located. Later on after tracking, you will return to the lodge for lunch and the afternoon at leisure.

After your breakfast and checking out, you will depart Bwindi taking the most scenic route to Rwana’s capital, Kigali. Here you will have a city tour of Kigali which includes a visit to Kigali genocide memorial site. The site provided an opportunity to offer a place in which the bereaved could bury their families and friends and over 250,000 victims are now buried at the site. This site also includes three permanent exhibitions, the largest of which documents the genocide in 1994. There is also a children’s memorial, and an exhibition on the history of genocidal violence around the world; the Education Center, Memorial Gardens and National Documentation Centre of the Genocide all contribute to a meaningful tribute to those who perished, and form a powerful educational tool for the next generation. After the tour, you will have some rest before the transfer to the airport for your departure flight.
