Day by Day Overview

Depart from Kampala after your early morning breakfast and head to Bwindi Impenetrable Forest in south western Uganda, home to the rare mountain gorillas. Along the way you will have spectacular views of the landscapes, from the flat plains to the rolling steep hills – it’s a really breathtaking journey. Have lunch en-route in Mbarara and then continue to Bwindi arriving in the late afternoon. Check in at your preferred lodge, which will give you the feel and view of the park together with the amazing sounds of water flowing and birds in the thick forest. Enjoy your dinner and overnight stay.

Today rise early and have your breakfast. Afterwards you will be taken to the park headquarters by your driver guide. You will have a briefing from the park rangers at 8:00 am concerning the rules in the park: what to do and not to do when you meet up with the gorillas. Tracking gorillas takes between 2 and 8 hours. Then set off with your tracking, ensure you carry enough drinking water, wear strong shoes and a jacket, and bring a walking stick. When you find the gorillas it’s a dream come true – enjoy time watching the playful juveniles, the silverbacks and the other gentle giants feed the young ones. Take as many photos as you want with your camera flash off.

Later head back to your lodge and rest. In the evening you could choose to stay and relax at the lodge or take an evening walk through the Batwa community, which will give you chance to interact with these people, learn how they live and watch them perform their traditional dances and songs. Return back to the lodge for dinner and overnight.

Start your day with a tasty breakfast and check-out from the lodge for the journey to Kibale National Park. There’s plenty to be enjoyed on this thrilling journey including the beautiful scenery, you can stop to take photos if you want. Continue to Kibale, arriving in the late evening. Check in at your lodge and have dinner. Before you retire, you could opt for an evening forest walk where you might be able to see some bush babies, depending on the accommodation facility you have chosen.

After your early morning breakfast, proceed to the park for chimpanzee tracking, an amazing experience. You will also have an opportunity to see beautiful birds and other primates such as the black and white colobus monkeys, baboons, L’Hoest’s monkeys, grey cheeked mangabeys among others. On meeting the chimpanzees, you will watch them jump on different branches, feed and play and see nests in which they rest/sleep. Take enough photos but with your camera flash off. Later return back for lunch at the lodge, check out and get back on the road to Kampala to your hotel or Entebbe if your flight is today.
