Day by Day Overview
In Entebbe, you can unwind and recharge your energy, surrounded by the soothing ambiance of the town. If you’re looking for something extraordinary, Mabamba Swamp offers a unique half-day tour with transportation, where you can witness the majestic shoebill storks, depending on the time of your arrival.
Drive through the Buganda toward the drier plains of Nakasongola and the tall jungle trees of Budongo, the largest forest reserve in Uganda. We first see the chimpanzees (2-hour activity) midday and proceed to our private bush camp in the northern part of Murchison Falls in the evening, where we enjoy stunning sunset and sundowner. Here we begin our exquisite private wildlife safari. Murchison Falls is Uganda’s largest park – plenty to explore here. We stay in our private camp with no other tourists around, with an opportunity to explore the area on foot.
Begin your day with an early morning walk exploring the Nyamsika area (2.5-4 hours) with plentiful wildlife and stunning scenery, with dry riverbed snaking through the savannah, Borassus, and acacia woodlands. After midday rest, we continue exploring the vast plains around the Nile delta with bounty of wildlife. We return to Nyamsika to enjoy the beautiful sunset and views with a sundowner.
After another morning walk, we embark on an exciting boat ride to the bottom of the falls while seeing plenty of elephants, giraffes, crocs, hippos, and other animals and the shores. Then it is time for a brisk 45-minute walk through the river jungle to the top of these powerful falls. After our lunch break, we return to our 2nd private camp at Pendero or Tangi for rest. Evening option for a shorter walk or a game drive depending on your desire.
We continue exploring the area walking around Pendero or Northern Nyamsika area, taking in excellent views and wildlife around, including herds of elephants common in the area. Enjoy the serene and untouched beauty of the park.
After a breakfast overlooking Nyamsika Valley, we proceed to the Crater Lakes area alongside the Albertine Rift, stopping first at Budongo forest – Uganda’s largest forest reserve – to see the chimpanzees. We arrive at Crater Lakes early evening and relax with stunning views of lakes, Kibale forest, and the Rwenzori Mountains around.
We explore the Crater Lakes area, which includes seeing several lakes and enjoying beautiful views of the Rwenzori Mountains. The area forests offer sightings of monkeys (black and red colobus, blue monkeys, and others) to visitors. Swimming is safe in one of the lakes if desired.
Optional: visit the nearby Kibale National Park, the primate capital of the world, for possible chimp trekking.
Embark on a captivating journey from Tooro to Buganda, where you’ll witness a stunning variety of landscapes, including picturesque tea plantations. Optionally, you can take the scenic route via Ankole to experience the pastoralist country and their iconic long-horn cattle and don’t miss the chance to cross the Equator. This six-hour adventure offers unforgettable sights and cultural experiences in the heart of Uganda.
