Day by Day Overview

On arrival at Maun Airport you will be met and transferred to Thamalakane River Lodge, beautifully located on the Thamalakane River that flows out of the Okavango Delta and through Maun. Here you are just beyond the buzz of Maun and will find a tranquil atmosphere that is unique to Northern Botswana. Chalets, public areas and the swimming pool share a 180 degree view of the riverbanks lined with fluttering reeds visited by an ever changing array of water fowl and birds. The restaurant serves a la carte and buffet meals from an ever changing menu. Dusk is spectacular, with the sun setting the river ablaze as it slowly dips behind the trees. Get your first taste of Botswana on a sunset cruise along the Thamalakane River.

This morning after breakfast you will be transferred to Maun Airport for your light aircraft flight to Pom Pom Camp in the Okavango Delta. Pom Pom Camp is located on Pom Pom Island in a private concession situated in the heart of the Okavango Delta and on the headwaters of the Xudum river system. The area lies on the western boundary of Moremi Game Reserve and offers superb scenery and a true Okavango wilderness experience. The Okavango Delta is one of the last remaining unspoiled wilderness areas of Africa. The water from the Okavango River fans out into the Okavango Delta forming a wetland system of beautiful palm-fringed channels, lagoons and islands that support a wealth of fauna and flora alike.

The Luxury Safari Tents overlook a scenic lagoon and are quietly nestled under a grove of shady trees. Sit around the camp fire each night as bushlore anecdotes are recounted, whilst a gracious meal is prepared and elegant wines uncorked. In the main thatched building you will find a cozy bar, lounge and table settings for imaginative meals prepared by safari chefs. Pom Pom Camp is known as much for its “soul” as for the game and wildlife in the area.

Safari Rooms afford you the luxury of air-conditioning, luxurious en-suite bath and shower facilities, as well as satellite TV and telephone. The safari rooms enjoy expansive lawns which form the banks of the Chobe River. Each room has its own patio that gives one the privacy of enjoying views of the river from the comfort of your own room. The rooms are also in close proximity to the main complex.

Along with many species of big game, Chobe National Park boasts the largest concentration of elephant in Africa. Game drives and boat cruises offer you the opportunity to witness this amazing spectacle.
