Day by Day Overview

This morning after breakfast we will pick you up from your accommodation or the airport (depending on arrival time). We head to Lake Eyasi passing through beautiful Maasai lands and villages on the way before arriving in the afternoon. Enjoy a hot lunch prepared at the lodge then rest until tomorrow when you will have early morning cultural activities with Hadzabe tribe.

Accommodation: Tindiga Tented Lodge
Meals: Full Board

Today around 0630 hrs before breakfast we head off and meet the Hadzabe tribes. They will take you for a hunt and teach you about hunting techniques. You’ll also meet with the Datoga tribe before coming back to lodge for breakfast. Afterwards proceed on safari to Serengeti National Park passing through the beautiful farmlands of Karatu and the Ngorongoro Highlands with picnic lunch boxes, game driving en route. The Central Serengeti offers superb game viewing all year round due to its abundance of resident animals. Specifically, the Seronera River Valley in the Central Serengeti is a ‘must see’ on every safari. Game viewing in Central Serengeti is at its very best during the dry season (June to November) as resident animals are more concentrated in the immediate area due to the lack of water on the plains. Resident herbivores include impala, buffalo, hippo, warthog, topi, hartebeest and giraffe while carnivores include lion and leopard.

Total driving time: 5-7 hrs
Accommodation: Seronera Lodge
Meals: Full Board

You have two full days to experience the Serengeti National Park. Known as host one of the most amazing wildlife spectacles on earth – the great migration of wildebeest and zebra – the Serengeti’s vast plains are also home to a haven of other wildlife including lions, cheetahs, leopards and many other predators. The park is suitable to visit all year-round with some specific months more suitable, notably December to July, to follow the wildebeest migration (either Ndutu or Mara River Crossing), while June to October to see predators.

Accommodations: Seronera Wildlife Lodge
Meals: Full Board

Enjoy early morning game drives en route as you depart Serengeti National Park to Ngorongoro Conservation Area. We stop over at Olduvai Gorge, with its history which dates back to the dawn of time. It was here that the anthropologists Drs. Lois and Mary Leakey discovered the skulls of ‘Nutcracker Man’ and ‘Handy Man’, both very significant links in the chain of human evolution. Late afternoon transfer to Rhino Lodge in Ngorongoro where you will have dinner and overnight.

Overnight: Ngorongoro Rhino Lodge
Meals: Full Board

After an early breakfast, you will descend over 600 meters into the crater to view wildlife. With a year round water supply and food, the Ngorongoro Conservation Area supports a vast variety of animals, including lions, zebras, flocks of flamingos, elephants, giraffes and much more. Ngorongoro Conservation Area is a UNESCO World Heritage Site site, considered the most beautiful and unique place in Africa where man and wildlife lives together in one area. We visit Lake Magadi, a large, shallow alkaline lake in the southwestern corner, one of the main features of the crater. A large number of flamingos, hippos and other water birds can usually be seen here. We will stop at a nice picnic area for our lunch break and then continue with a game drive in the late afternoon while heading back to the lodge. Transfer to Mto wa mbu Village where we will spend the night at Fanaka Campsite and Lodge.

Accommodation: Fanaka Campsite and Lodge
Meals: Full board

The bustling farming community of Mto wa Mbu, located between Manyara and Ngorongoro, is home to around 18,000 people. Spend half a day here with a knowledgeable local guide and you’ll discover a side of Tanzania that many visitors miss. After breakfast at the campsite local guides will pick you ready for a village walking tour. Your guide is very likely to be from the village itself so you will have a unique opportunity to see the community through his eyes. Tours last around 2–3 hours, but are very flexibl, and during your visit you’ll get a good feel for the social side of the village. You’re likely to start your tour at the rice plantations for an insight of how they grow them. Pass through different places and end at a local mama lunch place for lunch prepared there. Your driver guide will pick you up from there and you proceed to Lake Manyara National Park for a late game drive in the afternoon.

Accommodation: Fanaka Campsite and Lodge
Meals: Full Board

After breakfast we leave early around 0700 hrs heading to Tarangire National Park for a half day game drive. Late afternoon transfer back to Kilimanjaro International Airport via Arusha for optional shopping (if time allows) for your onward flight back home.
