Tour Overview

Explore some of Tanzania very best safari destinations: Tarangire, Lake Manyara and Serengeti National Parks and Ngorongoro Crater, taking in scenic beauty, wildlife and culture. Among the world’s epic wildlife events, few can match Tanzania’s Great Migration. And for nature photographers, there is simply nothing like being in the midst of hundreds of thousands of wildebeest and zebra as they make their annual trek over the Serengeti plains in pursuit of new grass. Agile predators steal behind, poised to seize the young and the weak that trail the great herds. To truly capture the wonder of the migration in images, it’s essential to witness it from key vantage points that offer close-up views. With our trained driver guides you will have the chance to get close and catch magic moments.

Day by Day Overview

We will pick you up from Kilimanjaro Airport in the evening and then drive you to your hotel. This evening you will relax in preparation for the next day setting off on safari. Dinner and overnight stay at the hotel.

After a leisure breakfast, you will be driven to Tarangire National Park (170 kilometres from Kilimanjaro), where you will stay two nights. On the way to Tarangire you will see a variety of plant life and vegetation such as the flat top acacia tree that is synonymous with African landscapes and the giant baobab tree. When you reach your destination, you will have lunch before heading into the park for an afternoon game drive where you will see the breathtaking sunset over the Great Rift Valley. Tarangire National Park offers great variety in both scenery and wildlife; it is particularly famous for its large herds of elephants which you will get to see up close and in amazing detail.  A great variety of animals call this park home including lions, zebras, giraffes, warthogs, antelope and many different species of bird life. After the game drive you will be taken to your lodge where you can rest and relax.

Today you will leave early for a morning game drive in Lake Manyara National Park, which is very different to others in that the lake takes up a large part of the park. Manyara is famous for the large flocks of flamingos that call the lake home and also for the tree-climbing lions that are very rare.  You will also see many other animals including elephants and hippos. Enjoy a picnic lunch and then continue with the game drive, then at the end of the day we will head back to your accommodation.

After a nice breakfast we will drive you into the central part of the Serengeti National Park.  The Serengeti is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of the most famous national parks in the world.  The Serengeti is home to the migration of massive numbers of wildebeest and zebra as they move into Kenya’s Masai Mara on their annual circular movement looking for lush grass. The Serengeti is considered to be the best place in the world to see the magical lion up close as well as a great range of other wildlife. As we drive into the centre of the park we will stop for a picnic lunch. Later you will be taken to your lodge for dinner and overnight.

Today you will do a full day’s game drive in the amazing Serengeti National Park. After breakfast we will do a game drive along the western corridor with a lunch box for a picnic lunch. Afterwards we continue with our game drive until late afternoon.  Hopefully we will have the chance to see some of the incredible sites of the migration as wildebeest and zebra cross the Grumeti River as they move towards the Mara River.

Early in the morning you will drive to Ngorongoro Crater for a full day’s game drive inside the crater. Ngorongoro is a large volcanic caldera, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, home to a huge variety of animals. As you descend into the crater there is the feeling of entering a truly special place. The landscape is a mixture of forest, lakes and wide-open plains that make it a perfect place for animal watching. Among the animals you can see here are black rhinoceros, lion, cheetah, hyena, jackal, hippos and many others. At the end of the afternoon, we will drive you to Karatu, close to Ngorongoro Conservation Area gate for your dinner and overnight stay.

After breakfast at the campsite, you will do a walking safari in Mto wa Mbu village, at the foot of the Great Rift Valley, home to Lake Manyara National Park. The village is famous for its wildlife, its many species of banana (including the red banana) and its many different tribes. Mto wa Mbu is home to over 120 tribes, so this it is one of the best places to experience true Tanzanian culture. You will see a variety of things from rice cultivation, banana plantations, traditional wood carvings from Mozambique, paintings, seeing how the local banana beer is made. At midday you have a traditional local lunch. Afterwards we will drive you back to Arusha to your next accommodation or the airport.
