Day by Day Overview

Welcome to Tanzania! Upon your arrival, an All Wheels Experience representative will be there to greet you at the airport and transfer you to your accommodation in Arusha. Depending on your arrival time, you’ll have the opportunity to unwind and get ready for the exciting adventure that awaits. Bustling Arusha serves as the gateway to northern Tanzania’s safari circuit, and many travelers pass through this vibrant town as they begin their journey into the wild.

Your All Wheels Experience safari guide will pick you up from your accommodation after breakfast, and your adventure will begin with a scenic drive to Tarangire National Park, about two and a half hours away on well-maintained roads. The park is named after the Tarangire River, which sustains wildlife during the dry season and is known as the “river of warthogs.”

Tarangire is famous for its large elephant herds, often seen near the river. You’ll also encounter giraffes, bushbucks, hartebeests, and various predators, such as lions and leopards. Bird lovers will be amazed to know that Tarangire boasts more breeding bird species than anywhere else in the world! Ancient baobab trees, some over a thousand years old, are a signature of the landscape. You’ll enjoy a picnic lunch inside the park, and after your game drive, you’ll head to your campsite near Karatu for the evening.

After breakfast, your journey continues as you head into the cooler highlands of the Ngorongoro Conservation Area. Along the way, you’ll stop to admire the stunning views of the Ngorongoro Crater, one of Africa’s most famous landmarks. From there, you will travel through the Ngorongoro Conservation Area and make your way to the southern entrance of the Serengeti.

The Serengeti is breathtaking with its vast, open grasslands that offer incredible wildlife viewing. While it’s home to an array of animals year-round, the Serengeti is best known for the Great Migration. During this annual event, millions of wildebeest, zebras, and antelopes move in search of fresh grazing. Depending on when you visit, you might witness one of nature’s most extraordinary spectacles—one of the ‘Seven Wonders of the Natural World.’ Enjoy a picnic lunch during the day, and then settle in for the night at a campsite in the heart of the Serengeti bush!

This entire day is set aside for game drives in the Serengeti. The Serengeti boasts an abundance of wildlife such as impala, buffalo, crocodile, and hippo. In addition to the iconic landscapes, you have a good chance of encountering predators and you may see lion, cheetah and leopard. It is a truly life-changing experience.

After breakfast, you will begin your journey toward the Ngorongoro Crater, taking in the magnificent scenery along the way! Ngorongoro Crater is a natural wonder, hidden behind its steep volcanic walls, revealing a pristine wilderness of sweeping savannahs, acacia woodlands, shimmering lakes, and wetlands. Formed by a massive volcanic eruption and subsequent collapse two to three million years ago, the Crater is now a haven for a rich diversity of wildlife.

The descent into the Crater is an adventure in itself, and once you reach the Crater floor, you’ll be surrounded by large herds of wildebeest, zebras, gazelles, and over 500 bird species. This unique ecosystem offers one of the best opportunities to spot the endangered black rhino grazing in the open grasslands. After an exhilarating afternoon exploring the Crater, you will head to your campsite on the rim of the Ngorongoro Crater, where you’ll spend the night with stunning views over this incredible natural landscape.

At All Wheels Experience, we want to make your final day just as thrilling as the rest of your journey. This morning, you’ll set off from the Ngorongoro Highlands, with chances to encounter wildlife along the way, en route to Lake Manyara National Park—your last destination on this epic safari adventure!

Lake Manyara National Park, though small, is packed with incredible diversity. Situated 120 km west of Arusha, this park boasts a unique landscape. It may be one of Africa’s narrowest parks, but it’s dominated by the majestic Great Rift Escarpment, towering over the park’s western edge. The park’s centerpiece, its namesake, Lake Manyara, is a shallow, salt lake that fluctuates with the seasons, attracting thousands of wading birds, including flamingos and over 500 other bird species. As you explore the park, keep an eye out for baboons and elephants in the lush evergreen forest. You may also be lucky enough to spot the famous tree-climbing lions. After a picnic lunch inside the park, your game drive will conclude.

We will then drop you off at a location of your choice, whether that’s Arusha, Kilimanjaro International Airport, or Arusha Airport. We hope your adventure with All Wheels Experience has left you with unforgettable memories!
