Tour Overview
Gombe National Park is located on the shore of Lake Tanganyika in western Tanzania, near the boundary of Burundi country. Gombe is known for Jane Goodall’s Institute and her research of primates (chimpanzees) when she spent many years in its forest studying the behaviors of the endangered species. Besides chimpanzees, other primates and wildlife inhabiting Gombe include Oliver’s baboon, red colobus monkey, red-tailed monkey, blue monkey, vervet monkey, bushbuck, occasional hippopotami, leopard and bush pig. The park also home to over 200 species of birds. Activities here include trekking into the forest to see the chimpanzees and kayaking on Lake Tanganyika, which has almost 100 kinds of colorful cichlid fish.

Day by Day Overview
This trip starts early in the morning at Nyerere International Airport with a shared flight to Kigoma Airport then a transfer to the hotel. Lunch at hotel and rest after arrival. In the afternoon we take local transport and start a city tour, visiting different places in Kigoma town like Kigoma Museum (History Dr. Livingstone slave trade history) and history of German ship (LIEMBA) and back to the hotel.
Dinner and overnight at hotel/lodge
After breakfast we start the transfer to Kibilizi ferry and cruise by boat on Lake Tanganyika to Gombe National Park, approximately 1.5 hours to the park headquarters. If you want, you can do a walking safari in the forest to see different species such as red colobus monkey, vervet monkey, oliver baboon, red tailed monkey and forest giant squirrel.
Dinner and overnight Gombe Rest House (Bandas)
After breakfast we shall take you for chimpanzee tracking in the forest. You will also visit Kikombe waterfalls which are one of the natural attractions in the park. If time allows, you will climb Jane’s Peak for an unforgettable view of the park. Lunch at Gombe rest house (Banda’s). In the evening you will enjoying kayaking (if you have an interest in it) on Lake Tanganyika. During your time on the water you will see the green of the Gombe Forest and the bird’s around the lake shore. Sometimes you might see fish in the lake.
Dinner and overnight Gombe Rest House (Bandas)
After breakfast start chimpanzee trekking in a different valley and visit Mkenge waterfalls. If you feel like it we can continue with other activities such as a walking safari before returning to lodge for relaxation. After a rest, in the afternoon or evening you can enjoy kayaking again, spending 2-3 hours on the water before heading back to the lodge for dinner.

Early in the morning we will start the journey back to Dar es Salaam. Take the boat to Kigoma airport then a shared flight back to Dar es Salaam.
