Day by Day Overview

After breakfast, set off on the one and a half hour drive to Arusha National Park with picnic lunch. The entrance gate leads to the mountain forest inhabited by blue monkeys and colorful turacos and trogons – the only place on the northern safari circuit where the black-and-white colobus monkey is easily seen. In the midst of the forest stands the spectacular Ngurdoto Crater, its steep, rocky cliffs enclosing a wide marshy floor dotted with herds of buffalo and warthog. Further north, rolling grassy hills enclose the tranquil beauty of the Momela Lakes, each one a different hue of green or blue. Their shallows sometimes look pink with thousands of flamingos, the lakes support a rich selection of resident and migrant water birds, and waterbucks display their large horns on the watery borders. Giraffes, zebra herds, dik-dik can also be spotted. After the game drive you will drive to Arusha for dinner and overnight.

After a picnic lunch in midday, you will resume your afternoon game drive where you’ll encounter other animals such as, giraffes, zebras, wildebeest, other antelope’s species in rich numbers and birds.

One of the Eight Wonders of the World, the crater is a very important refuge for a huge variety of wildlife. Most commonly seen are big bull elephants and vulnerable black rhinos. The crater is also home to big herds of wildebeest and zebras, Thomson’s and Grant’s gazelles, hippopotamus, cape buffaloes, prides of lions, hyenas, serval cats, golden and black backed jackals, and close to 400 species of birds. Then at the late afternoon you will start to drive out all the way to the hotel. Dinner and overnight at hotel in Karatu

At midday you’ll enjoy lunch in the park before setting out for the open woodland areas where you’ll hope to set your sights on giraffes, hippos, flamingos and more.
