Day by Day Overview

Upon arrival at the Kigali International Airport, you will meet our professional driver guide. They will brief you about you gorilla trekking safari. Immediately after the briefing, you will do a city tour of Kigali. Visit the Kigali Genocide Museum, Nyamatta Church, and the King’s Palace. Later on, you will cross the Rwanda-Uganda border and lunch will be along the way. Once you arrive at the park, check in to your lodge for dinner and spend the night.

After an early breakfast, the driver will take you to the park headquarters for a briefing. Bwindi is divided into four gorilla trekking sectors, home to about 26 habituated mountain gorilla families, one of which you will track. Tracking gorillas in Bwindi is done under the leadership of an experienced guide who will help you locate the gorilla family in the shortest time possible. Once you find the gorilla family, you will be allowed to spend one hour in its presence.

Return to the lodge for lunch and in the afternoon, you will visit the neighboring Batwa communities. These are believed to be the ancient dwellers of the forests of Uganda, Congo, and Rwanda. They are close to parks within the Virunga Conservation Area. You will either return to your lodge in Bwindi or transfer to a lodge near Lake Bunyonyi. Have dinner and spend the night.

On the final day of your gorilla trekking safari take a boat cruise on Lake Bunyonyi to see the many islands on the lake. A haven for birds, it was named after small birds – “Bunyonyi” in the local language. You will then set off on the drive back to Kigali International Airport for departure.
