Day by Day Overview

Arrival and pick up by your driver/guide who will meet you at the airport and transfer you to your accommodation where you will have dinner and briefing for the next coming days on safari.

Today we visit two very important places in the history of Rwanda.

– Genocide Museum, take a walk through the history of 1994
– Nyamata Museum, which also commemorates the same events. This is the final resting place of about 50,000 genocide victims.

We will transfer to Ruhengeri close to the gorilla’s residence. Visit the Karisoke Research Centre before we check into our lodge for an overnight. On the program is a visit to the Gorilla Guardians village.

We shall cross the boarder to Uganda where we find our rest for the day at Lake Bunyonyi ( the place of many birds), Africa’s 3rd deepest lake.

With views of beautiful crater lakes, this day will take us through tea plantations to the tropical rain forest of Kibale. This is home to 13 primate species including chimpanzees and red colobus monkeys.

This is the day of chimp trekking, which starts in the early morning. In the afternoon, we visit the Bigodi Swamp located outside the park. Indulge in a local delicacy prepared by the locals.

In the morning after breakfast, we shall transfer to Queen Elizabeth National Park. On the program is a boat ride and game drive as we discover what’s unique about this park named after the late Queen Elizabeth.

We shall go for a morning game drive as we head out to the northern part of Bwindi. Possible to view are lion prides, antelopes, elephants and herds of buffalos to mention a few.

This is the day of gorilla tracking. With the guidance of park rangers and trackers, we shall take a walk through this dense forest in search of the gorillas. Once we locate them we spend an hour in their presence for the ultimate experience like no other.

We transfer to Uganda’s smallest national park, Lake Mburo. Here you get to see zebras, giraffes and antelopes. Take a boat ride and see a wide range of water animals and birds (if lucky, your might see the elusive shoebill).

In the morning, you have an option of going for a walking safari. We continue our journey to Kampala via the equator to buy some souvenirs and take some pictures at the Equator.

We shall visit Mabamba swamp in search for the elusive shoebill stork. The can only be reached by dug out canoes. Also on the program is a visit to our initiate Ggaba Disabled Project. The rest of the day is at leisure but if your flight is the same day we shall drop you off to the airport.
