Day by Day Overview

Welcome to Africa! Transfer from Kilimanjaro Airport to a small, cozy lodge near Arusha. Guests can relax in the spacious garden or by the pool. If you want, you can plunge into the wilderness in the afternoon and take an exciting hike with an armed gamekeeper through the mountain forests of the Arusha National Park (optional, about 85 USD pp). Buffalo and giraffe graze nearby, black and white colobus monkey’s gymnast through the trees.

Overnight at Osiligilai Maasai Lodge

Game drive in Lake Manyara National Park, home to many elephants, zebras, impalas, dik diks, striped wildebeests, buffaloes, giraffes and Anubis baboons. The park is in the valley of the Great East African Rift Valley and is particularly known for its tree-climbing lions, which with a little luck can be discovered in the branches. The streams trickling down from the steep drop feed the flat soda lake and have created a forest oasis with lush vegetation in the northern part of the park. The shores of Lake Manyara provide plenty of food for flamingos. Numerous other waterfowl live on the tributaries and there is a great diversity with over 400 species: horn-bills, flamingos, pelicans, storks, cormorants and birds of prey. Hippos seek shelter from the burning sun in the cool water.

Overnight at Eileen’s Tree Inn

Drive to the Serengeti National Park, probably the most famous national park in the world. With area of almost 15,000 km², you will most likely see the well-known “Big Five” during extensive game drives, maybe even cheetahs hunting. In the rivers, sunbathing crocodiles can be observed. The vast savannas of the Serengeti are a paradise for grazing animals. From May to July, countless wildebeests, zebras and antelopes migrate on their annual great migration towards the Masai Mara, followed by big cats and hyenas. From November, the large herds migrate south again. Your safari camp is semi-permanent and will spoil you with all the amenities you need in the wilderness. The respective location is seasonally adapted to the large animal migration – the camp can always be found where the wildebeest and zebra herds are currently located. So, you are always very close to the migration and thus enjoy the best possible safari experiences! Be surprised by the classic ‘Hemingway style’ and enjoy the evenings in the wilderness bathed in warm light by the setting African sun.

Overnight (2 nights) at Serengeti View Camp or equivalent safari cmap

On the way to the cool Ngorongoro highlands you will have another opportunity for fabulous wildlife observations. The lunch break will be spent at the crater rim with a view of the vastness of the caldera. Then experience a safari inside Ngorongoro Crater, part of the UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1978. Bernard Grzimek described the crater as a “wonder of the world”. From the edge (approx. 2,286 m) you have a magnificent view of the approx. 259 km² large area of steppe, lakes and bushland. Herds of zebras and wildebeests as well as rhinos, elephants, lions, cheetahs and hippos can be spotted.

Overnight again at Eileen’s Tree Inn

Game drive in Tarangire National Park where you can find mainly large herds of elephants, but also kudu antelopes, wildebeest, cheetahs, leopards and lions. Huge baobabs dominate the landscape here and form a spectacular backdrop. The Tarangire River and the swamps in the southern part of the park attract a variety of wildlife during the dry season. In the late afternoon return to the vicinity of Arusha.

Overnight at African View Lodge

Drive to Kilimanjaro Airport and flight to Zanzibar. Transfer to the beach hotel on the beautiful east coast. The 4-star Spice Island Hotel & Resort is located on the southeast coast of the island between Paje and Jambiani. It is located directly on the beautiful beach and has its own 100 m long pier with bar and a large, illuminated pool in the evening. The 34 thatched bungalows are divided into four categories and are very spacious with about 55 m². They are furnished in the typical Zanzibari style and are located in a beautiful botanical garden, which offers an incredible variety with about 3,000 different plant species. The bungalows in stylish color scheme and Zanzibar furnishings offer a lot of comfort, a bright, airy atmosphere, private terrace, fan, air conditioning, safe and bathroom with open-air shower. The “Makuti” restaurant serves fresh seafood and various dishes with Arabic, African and Indian influences.

Overnight at Spice Island Resort

Enjoy four days of relaxation on the beach of the Indian Ocean and choose from a range of optional activities in the tropical holiday paradise. Zanzibar was once the seat of power of an oriental merchant dynasty. Fleets of ocean-going sailboats transported ivory, spices and slaves to the Arab world. In historic Stone Town, a tangle of narrow streets between old houses and palaces still bears witness to this time. Striking are the entrance doors richly decorated with carvings and brass fittings. In the evening, exotic seafood is prepared in the popular Forodhani Gardens at countless small food stalls – a delight for the eyes and palate. Or how about a guided spice tour? Experience how the Zanzibars grow and process nutmeg, ginger, cardamom and many other oriental spices. On request, we can organize various excursions for you. Ask us about it!

Overnight at Spice Island Resort (4 nights total)

The morning is at your leisure. Every beautiful journey comes to an end. Transfer to the airport for your flight back home.
