Day by Day Overview

Upon your arrival at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport in Nairobi, you will be greeted by your safari guide who will assist you with the transfer to your hotel. Check in and spend the remainder of the day relaxing and recovering from your journey. Depending on your arrival time, you may choose to explore Nairobi’s vibrant city life, visit local markets, or dine at one of the city’s renowned restaurants.

Overnight stay in Nairobi

After breakfast, depart from Nairobi and head towards Lake Naivasha, located in the Great Rift Valley. The journey takes approximately 1.5 to 2 hours. Upon arrival, check in to your lodge or camp overlooking the scenic lake. Enjoy lunch and spend the afternoon at leisure. You can explore the nearby Hell’s Gate National Park for a hiking or cycling adventure, take a boat ride on the lake, or simply relax and enjoy the tranquility of your surroundings.

 

Depart from Lake Naivasha after breakfast and embark on a scenic drive to the world-renowned Masai Mara National Reserve. The journey takes approximately 5-6 hours, with stunning views of the Great Rift Valley along the way. Upon arrival, check in to your lodge or camp located within or near the reserve. Spend the next three days exploring the vast plains of the Masai Mara, home to an abundance of wildlife including the Big Five—lions, elephants, leopards, buffaloes, and rhinos. Enjoy morning and afternoon game drives, guided bush walks, and cultural visits to Maasai villages. Witness the spectacular wildebeest migration if traveling  during the migration season (July to October).

 

After breakfast, you will embark on a game drive and you will be able to experience the Maasai Mara ecosystem. You will be driven through the savannah to the Mara River for possible witnessing of wildlife migration, sight crocodiles, and hippos among other wildlife animals. At lunch hour you will sit under an acacia tree and enjoy your packed picnic lunch. After lunch, resume with the game drive while exploring the magical Masai Mara, the best African savannah until the evening. At sunset you will get back to the lodge for dinner and overnight.

 

This day you will have a full day game drive and therefore you will wake up early in the morning and take breakfast then head to the wild in search of the big five, the giraffes, different species of birds and many more other animals.
You will be driven through the savannah to the sand river for possible wildlife migration, sight crocodiles, and hippos among other wildlife animals. At lunch hour you will sit under an acacia tree and enjoy your packed picnic lunch. Enjoy your final game drive in the Masai Mara, soaking in the beauty of the savannah as the sun begins to set. Head back to the lodge to enjoy a farewell dinner.

 

After breakfast, cross the border into Tanzania and continue your safari adventure in the world-famous Serengeti National Park. The journey takes approximately 6-7 hours, including border crossing formalities. Upon arrival, check in to your lodge or camp located within the park. Spend the next two days exploring the vast plains of the Serengeti, renowned for its diverse wildlife and breathtaking landscapes. Enjoy morning and afternoon game drives, where you may encounter large herds of wildebeests, zebras, giraffes, and predators such as lions, cheetahs, and leopards. Witness the iconic Serengeti sunrise and sunset, creating unforgettable memories.

 

After breakfast you will enjoy full-day game drives. Serengeti National Park has rewarding bird viewing with ostrich and kori bustard being common as well as a variety of larks, finches and raptors. Serengeti shares the same eco-system with Maasai Mara hence there is plenty to see.

 

After breakfast, depart from Serengeti and drive to the Ngorongoro Conservation Area, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The journey takes approximately 3-4 hours, passing through scenic landscapes and rural villages. Upon arrival, descend into the Ngorongoro Crater, a natural amphitheater teeming with wildlife including elephants, rhinos, lions, and hippos. Enjoy a picnic lunch surrounded by the stunning scenery of the crater floor. In the afternoon, ascend back to the crater rim and check in to your lodge overlooking the crater. Spend the evening relaxing and soaking in the panoramic views.

 

After breakfast, depart from Ngorongoro and cross the border back into Kenya. Continue your safari journey to Amboseli National Park, known for its iconic views of Mount Kilimanjaro and large herds of elephants. The journey takes approximately 5-6 hours. Upon arrival, check in to your lodge or camp and enjoy lunch. Spend the next two days exploring Amboseli, with morning and afternoon game drives offering opportunities to spot elephants, lions, cheetahs, giraffes, and other wildlife against the backdrop of Africa’s highest mountain. Enjoy cultural visits to local Maasai communities and optional activities such as guided nature walks or sundowner cocktails overlooking the plains.

 

Early morning game drive and later return to the lodge for breakfast. After breakfast full day spent in the park with packed lunch in search of its popular residents like the well-known predators and their opponents like the zebra, wildebeest, giraffe, hippo with a view of Mt Kilimanjaro.

 

After breakfast, bid farewell to Amboseli and embark on the final leg of your safari journey back to Nairobi. The journey takes approximately 4-5 hours. Upon arrival in Nairobi, you will be transferred to Jomo Kenyatta International Airport for your onward journey or to your accommodation in Nairobi if you plan to extend your stay. Reflect on the unforgettable experiences and memories created during your Kenya and Tanzania safari adventure.
